Preorder bonuses which affect game balance in any way are more likely to cause me to never get the game than to preorder it. They are a sign of the developers thumbing their nose both at the player and the experience, and/or thinking their game sucks so much that preorders are their best chance at selling.

I generally only preorder when there is a realistic chance of a game (edition) which I want running out. Merely being dead certain that the game will be good is not a reason for me to preorder it.

It depends on what you get for it, personally. Plus if I'm going to pre-order anyway it's a nice bonus.

I'm not really a fan of pre-order bonuses. I think all it really does is make most of your future customers miss out on the full experience, same reason I think same day DLC is a stupid idea, things like this are already getting out of hand and publishers are becoming more stingy by the minute. I miss the days of buying a game and knowing it was actually the whole game. I await the inevitable "having to pay 15 dollars to see the last few levels" tactic.
