OK fuck in-game pre-order content - it is downright unfair and irritating. It's like "pre-order the game to get the full game!" - but if you decide you don't want to buy it 12:01 on launch day, and would prefer to try or read up on the game, you've still gotta pay in full for "less game".

At least some of this in-game pre-order stuff is just crap like gold skins. Yet I just don't understand why these practices continue.

If you get something like an added figure or DVD then that seems ok, but extra stuff in the game seems like a dickmove.

I would never pre-order a game, so I guess this doesn't apply to me. Either way, any 'incentives' would ultimately end up being either gameplay elements that I would never, ever use, or more useless crap to clutter up my valuable space.

I like 'em. I've got my Chimera action figure equipped with a Bullseye waiting for me at home...shame I forgot it on this camping trip D:
hah, I do to, and I don't regret it either.

Anyway, I just pre-order because I know I will probably waste my money for the game on something stupid. Pre-order rewards are just icing on the cake for me.

I don't pre-order games, and it would probably take something along the lines of the Master Chief helmet (except for a franchise I actually care about) to persuade me to do so. A figurine or some similar decorative item might tempt me though. Not a fan of in-game bonus content as it seems unfair to other buyers, items like soundtracks, keyrings and other paraphernalia seems fairer to me.

Me too except mine is the Turok T-shirt. Gamestop keeps me clothed lol. Though I do prefer the action figures. The Alex Mercer AF is awesome.

Only game I pre-ordered EVER was Half-Life 2 and it only came with a free t-shirt... a free XL t-shirt... it smothered me and I had to give it away.
I think that an OST should be standard with any pre-orders or limited editions.

I don't really care if a game comes with pre-order stuff. I mainly pre-order games to have them as soon as they come out. The few times I have pre-ordered games with goodies it has turned out well: GoW 2 LE came with a gold hammerburst, and MW 2 came with a poster signed by the people making the game. I did pre-order Batman: Arkham Asylum for 360 and the PS3 is the one getting the good stuff. Meh. The game itself is good enough without bonuses.

I like (some) of the things you get from pre-ordering, but I hate the concept. It's just a way to encourage rather unintelligent people to spend their money on games before they know if they like them or not. I've seen it first hand. I know a guy that pre-ordered Lord of the Rings: Conquest because it came with a replica of a sword... but when he got it, the sword was a weak piece of plastic smaller than a pencil and the game was terrible.

In the end it's all nerdy stuff. But some special editions decorate my game room quite nicely I'm really looking forward to the Black Edition of Assassin's Creed 2 ^-^
Same, I enjoy add-ons that come with developer diaries or a figure. Special skins in game or a code to unlock things instantly I don't enjoy, they don't serve a purpose. I love my limited edition MGS4 and really dislike the Gears 2 special edition and this transformers pre-order looks dumb as well.
