I made my characters male. I just felt weird making a female... probably because I am so masculine.

Don't call me a freak/pervert, i play as a female when possible. mind you it is rather difficult to come up with a name.
QUICKLY someone yell a female name, i might need it later.
Cindi.

I'll play as either, but sometimes, playing as a male just feels more.. right. Maybe I'm just not used to seeing my own sex on screen.

Pretty much this.

I make male characters because I can familiarize myself with them more.
It just...feels so weird to play a female when you're actually a man.
You feel like you're playing a game, not really being the character itself, it's harder for me to immerse in a game if I make a female character.

Depends on the game.

In a game like Fallout 3 with a great story and great characters, I will be absorbed into the character and look at the world from the INSIDE OUT. Basically, I will temporarily become the character. So, being male, it would be odd to play a female.

But in a game that doesn't really draw me into the character, like an MMO for example, I will look at the character from the OUTSIDE IN. Basically, I will NOT become the character, but only control the character's actions like a general commanding a soldier. In that case, it could be either male or female.

For me it doesn't matter, but it has to be believable.
Sometimes they put women in the most obviously machocentric roles and it just feels really weird.

If it's a 3rd Person game, I'd much rather stare at a female's ass than a male's, enlightened soul that I am.

Whenever theres a choice I play female. When I was younger I had a lot of gender confusion. I'm confortable in my own skin now but I still always make characters female. Somhow I still feel like I can relate to them better and it makes the story more compelling when the lead is given to a (believable) female character.

I'm sure plenty of people will find that wierd.
