Poll: Probably a dumb question about GG.

There is a main #gamergate thread. Then several smaller threads, and everybody is arguing and shouting and postulating and summarizing, over and over and over. My question, and it's probably a dumb one since I've only just started using the escapist forums, is, "Has anyone done a poll?" Like just a simple one question poll with only three possible responses: A.For, B.Against, and C.Neutral

I don't want to start an argument, I just want numbers. I mean, I think it might shed a little more light on the situation. Then again, I might be wrong.

If someone has already tried a poll, can someone link me to that thread? If not, I'll add a poll here, just in case. Please be honest, it's really just for curiosity's sake anyway.

There is the main thread, several other threads, of course the thing we need now is MOAR threads.

I don't really see what purpose a poll would serve. The accompanying thread would just have the same back and forth happening in the twenty million other GG threads.

Also, I think a lot of people wouldn't fit in any of those categories, they're too simplistic. Someone can refuse to support GamerGate without necessarily being against it and neutral kind of implies that they just don't give a shit.

Polls very often go wrong for some reason, been like that for awhile.

Only issue I see with a poll is that pro-GGers have a centralized place to spread the word while those opposed to it do not. I imagine if someone did a poll there would be an "everyone vote to support GG" post in the mega thread within five minutes. Not a very organic way to get accurate numbers, imo.

Indifference to the topic is beginning to spike here in the general Escapist community.

I'm going to stick to my old stance. I'm exhausted by all the harassment and witch hunting this has all caused. I don't care what side you're on, being an asshole is not how you garner support from the moderate. Talk solutions.

This whole thing has convinced me that one of the best things I ever did was stay off Twitter.

We already have several threads where people are explaining why they're for or against in great detail. A poll isn't going to reflect any kind of trend or give any real accuracy on the numbers of supporters or people who are against it. We have a concentration of new users posting on these forums specifically for GG, that's obviously going to skew the result.

Could The Escapist maybe create a forum specifically for Gamer Gate stuff temporarily so everyone who wants to talk about it can go there and post as many threads about it as they like.

Then people like me who don't give a flying chuff about the whole sorry mess don't have to wade through about a thousand threads about it every single day.
