I know this has been done to death but I'm wondering what the opinion of gamers is on this topic after most people have now completed the game.

Personally, I vote for Prototype, cause even though Infamous was good, after u beat it, there isn't ANYTHING TO DO...

There are no more bad guys to punch/zap, all u do is slowly climb/float/fall around the city.

In Prototype however, you just murder till u get bored, then you come back 5 mins later for some more!! Plus traveling is much more fun in Prototype.

So what say you Escapist? What is the better game overall, based on attacks, gameplay, story, traveling convenience, and replayability?

I think that inFamous was a lot more structured and the gameplay felt a lot smoother. Prototype was a little more hectic, but I think that was the point of the game. I like them both, though... you can't make me choose!

I'm going to have to go with Infamous on this one, soley because Prototype was the worst game I played last year. Possibly one of the top five worst games on the xbox.

I tried to play it, bought it from Toys R Us on a sale they had, but there are just too many things for me that ruined the game. Inconsistancy of AI behavior, rubbery controls, and a lack of any interesting story all take away from what could have been a quality experience.

I've only ever fully played Prototype so that's my answer. But next time don't be making vs threads especially one with subjects that have been talked about to death.

Went for Prototype, it's just much more of a brain-deadeningly bloody massacre with bits of people flying all over fun in the long run.

Yahtzee was correct: Get them both.

Please, don't do versus threads.

I will say this once: No versus threads! They are not accepted here.
Unfortunately the forum rules also state that if we answer the thread, we approve of it, so the mods won't do shit... I'm so tired of versus threads

If you knew that then why did you make a new topic? Those dozens of older ones should have sufficed.

Just because both games involve superpowers doesn't mean that they should be constantly pitted against each other.

Prototype is a sandbox game that involves mindless killing and flying around aimlessly, better for people with a disposition against humanity.

Infamous is an open-world game that plays out more naturally, giving you strategic use of a limited set of powers rather than making you play through the game in god mode. Better for people that prefer that.

I prefer Infamous personally, the whole god mode thing just doesn't last for me.

Personally, I prefer Prototype (although I haven't played inFamous).

From what I hear, inFamous had a morality meter and...in my opinion that somewhat defeats the point. Prototype assumed that you were going to be a murderous sociopath so they didn't bother keeping track of what you do, so moments of kindness and mercy from me in the game were actually moments of my morality shining through (rather than playing nice because the dev wants me to).

Infamous.

To be honest I didn't like either of them as much as I should...

Prototype:
Repeatedly taking out military bases to purchase abilities is not fun.
Having all your powers taken away is not fun.
Having 2 powers given to you free that if used correctly are the best in game is not fun.
Murdering people is fun.
Traveling is hilarious if disguised as an old lady.

Infamous:
Having the starting power being the best is not fun.
Having to do the exact same thing everytime you get a new power is not fun.
Having to use wires to move at a decent speed is not fun.
Having nothing to do after hitting 100% complete is not fun (And defeats the point of a sandbox)
Moral choices that are a choice between asshole and saint are not fun.
Having god mode when near something that can hold a charge is not fun.
Lightning is fun.
The story (In my opinion) is better.

Also if you are aware of other threads that are similar you do not need to make a new one. Just read the old ones.

I played a bit of InFamous, but I beat Prototype inside out, killed it's dogs and salted it's fields.
In InFamous, I wasn't a big fan of the morality meter, and the movement repeatedly pissed me off. The combat felt like a one trick pony, but the city was gorgeous, varied, colorful and well designed.

In Prototype, the combat has the potential to be varied, but often feels repetitious after you've gotten all the powers unlocked. Movement was flawless, but it's a shame the view wasn't a bit better when I sprinted to the top of a skyscraper to watch the in-game sunset.

I'td be kind of funny if the super bad guy that Cole is supposed to be preparing for ends up being Alex Mercer O:

OT: I like them both, they both have their pros/cons that make them fun/irritating.

No VS threads here please, and Yahtzee has already covered this already in his Prototype "Review" (admit it, it was more like a comparision).
