Out of the 2 options given here, I would side with the X-box 360, but give me a gamecube controller anyday. Comfortable and easy to use. Gotta love them.

It all depends on which controller you grew up with I prefer the PS3 because I grew up using one

Being a youngin my first console was a PS1 with a dualshock analog controller and I remember it being marvellous. Everything worked, the shoulder buttons were neither sticky nor soft, the D-pad was across from the face buttons and everything was nice and neat. Jump forward 10 years and we are in the current generation. I own a 360 but have played copious amounts on a PS3. The left stick and d-pad swapped makes more sense since most games use the stick instead for movement and the right stick feels better staggered as it physically reminds you to treat the stick differently which is advantageous in most games while not being hindering in others. The triggers make me happy because while I play some shooters, I still very much enjoy other genres and they work universally across every game type. The colour coded face buttons make teaching my family to play alot easier aswell as the obvious advantages of quicktime events. The d-pad admittedly isn't right, but it's very rarely used for anything other than hotkeys which it is very well suited for by being 8 directional rather than 4, and just the overall size and weight of the controller makes the experience of gaming more immersive. The PS3 controllers, while only having a couple of flaws, has absolutely no advantages. The controller hasn't changed in 14 years which means that the controller would still fit in my hand if I were 8, and the L2/R2 buttons have been overcompensated from the stickyness of PS2 and are to soft.

"It is not the species that in strongest or fastest that survives, but that which is most adaptable to change" -Charles Darwin

The PS3 controller design is outdated and flawed, the xbox controller was an adaptation of that and the 360 controller an evolution of that. 360 controller is far superior.

Supers and Ultras are so fun though, and absolutely necessary for playing against people. As far as arcade mode, I've beaten Gouken on hardest difficulty using only one type of attack. Just one. Over and over. Its stupid easy to beat arcade using most any strategy after some practice. I'm also a Dan Hibiki specialist, so Supers and Ultras are the real damage dealers for me. Super in particular since its actually stronger than his Ultra.
I guess I'm not one for flashy-ness. The main characters I use and cycle through are Ryu, E. Honda, Chung-Li, and Blanka. Ya, on hardest mode, the computer is a sucker for Blanka's electrocute.

Man, I walked into this thread for a quick reply and now I've almost made a night of it. Gooot..tooo....brrreeaak...frrrreeee.
No. There is no escape. I taunt you!

i prefer the playstation controllers, the xbox ones just don't feel right in my hands, the buttons, the placement of the thumbsticks, the triggers, the weight, everything.

I personally prefer the Dualshock, but that's cause I hold my controllers funny. My thumbs jonts bend back really far, so instead of pushing buttons with the tip of my thumb I do it with the first joint, which for whatever reason makes having the left joystick on the bottom more comfortable. I know that I'm a weird case though, and most people I know who play games that actually use the joysticks prefer the 360 controller.

While 360 is my preferred system, the PS3 controller is a winner by a longshot, in my opinion.

While it's charger doesn't go on while the system is off, and lacks a rumble feature, (I got a PS3 right when it was released) it's just so light-weight and the buttons press down so slightly and slenderly that the slightest twitch makes it go off. I love it.

Call of Duty 4 was magical on this controller.

I prefer the 360 controller because it fits my hands better and it's sturdier than my pansy ass SIXAXIS which I have wrapped in ductape to keep from falling apart.

I like the ergonomics and look of the PS3 controller, however I hate the middle button that the poisonous Xbox butch controller introduced. It doesn't pause your game and brings up a overhead menu. Most quicktime mash events involve shifting the analog sticks haphazardly and I always hit it.

If that button is gone, it's good.

However my favorite controller shall remain the N64, and WASD and Mouse fo' life!

From the Xbox controller last gen cycle. It didn't have bumpers it had a black button and a white button.

Gotta say, looking back I also like the start/back positioning, or at least I would more so now so I don't accidentally hit the guide button when I have to use the back button for some reason (lookin' at you, Mass Effect)
Ugh!!! That is horrid. The palm of my left hand would be constantly hitting those two left buttons. Same with the right. That is a nightmare.

The Triggers and bumpers are perfectly positioned on the 360. Easy access and quick response.

The start and back are in the perfect place; they are easy to access as well. The back button is an extremely quick flick down with the left thumb and then back to the stick. Same with the start button. The 360 is the pinnacle of controller design. The D-pad is the only thing that is a little awkward, but it barely registers on the annoyance scale, because so few games use it.
I can understand your perspective, but I can only speak from my own experience. The Black/white buttons were not like the other face buttons, btw. They were smaller and set in a bit more. Never had an issue with them.

Whilst I love the PS3 and 360 controller, I see the triggers on the PS3 to be a downright pain.

But I've got to admit, Six Axis is a bit neat, and when it comes down to it, I will always choose the GBA SP over the GBA, not just because of the backlight, but the fact that the battery is rechargeable, wich saves money.

Yes, you can get a rechargeable battery for the 360, but the PS3 came with it, instead of me buying it seperately, and in the end, the PS3 just wins it for me.

Out of the two options, PS3 wins in my books. However my Micron Gamecube controller beats everything both Sony and Microsoft have to offer.

I'm just Saiyan. WAKA WAKA!

Either are fine. Unless I'm playing an FPS, then I want a 360 controller.

Though over all I prefer a keyboard and mouse.

The 360 one. The PS3 one I constantly involuntarily jam on R2/L2 (and even a slight touch sets it off) and it's very hard to accelerate fully in racing games that have X as the throttle button.

It's not particularly comfortable to play with it. It's alright, but the 360 one is better.

I find that the layout of Xbox 360 controller is just awful and the triggers on the PS3 controller is really annoying.
My choice, the PS2 controller.

Long ago, when I was but a teenager, I loved the Dual Shock 2. These days, I generally prefer the 360 controller unless the game requires me to use the d-pad regularly.

It should be noted that any game that requires me to make regular use of both sets of shoulder buttons causes unending rage and torment. Killzone 2 for example, even were I to overlook any of its other myriad faults, is a game that I will not remember fondly because of the severe hand pain caused when playing.
