Since you have money for both decent PC and a console,PS3. More potential, more exclusives, and less of a teenage idiots (i mean Halo/GeoW crowds). I think it's slightly more viable than Xbox 360.

And oh!

This. Thousand times this. Ratchet & Clank is only real reason to have a console at all. Especially when you can get it for peanuts.

If you're a big PC user, I would go with the PS3.
Just because most games on the Xbox 360 can also be bought for the PC.

personally, i'm a ps3 fan. but i don't like the slim. I'm getting mine with backwards compatibility. I can't play my silent hill games on the 360 or any other ps exclusive game and i freaking love the exclusives however madbird-valiant is right, why bother? You're going to get everyone's biased opinions based on the consoles they prefer.

Edit: any game I want to play on the 360 is also on the ps3 and i'm also a metal gear solid fan which last i checked is not on the 360. Plus I've played both consoles. I prefer the playstation controllers to the 360 controllers comfort wise and the graphics on the ps3 are better in my opinion.

For you OP, I'd say get the PS3. Since most games that come out on the 360 will be available on PC as well, you'll get more exclusive games on the PS3.

And a big plus with the PS3 is PSN, which is free to use.

If you're a PC elitist go for the PS3. The 360 has a good games library but a lot of its exclusive games can be attained on the PC unlike the PS3's. Well at least that's what I've noticed.
Yeah, I've been a PC gamer mostly and I enjoy my PS3 more than Xbox 360. It really depends on if you're used to Xbox controllers of PS controllers. That is usually a big factor.

Have you heard of the Cross Battle Adapter? Use a 360 controller on a PS3 system.

Or Real Triggers? Makes the L2 and R2 buttons more comfortable. I have a set of these, and they are awesome

Thankyou for that link. I am also a pc gamer and have been looking at getting a PS3, as it has more exclusives I am interested in, and I can eventually get alot of the xbox ones on PC later. The only gripe I had with the ps3 is that I just do not like the controllers, this looks perfect for me, thanks.

I've had both the Ps3 and xbox 360, I don't think you can compare them because each one is better at different things.
Xbox 360:

+I think it has better online, 8 player party chat even if you are on different games, more players overall. I would say its best for playing with friends.
+For some reason if I had a game that was available on both consoles I would just prefer to play it on 360.
+Its just had a price drop
+The XBLA has more games compared with PS3 store, a nex XBLA game is released every week.
-Online is £37.50 a year, but worth it.

PS3:

+Blu-ray player (but you already have one)
+Free online
+Slightly better graphics
- More expensive

I prefer xbox, but its up to you, what do you prefer?

As a 360 fan I'm going to say PS3. Many of the 360 'exclusives' can be bought on the PC and the PS3 is more reliable so there's less chance of having it break when you are using it as your backup.

For now it all comes down to what kind of games u will be playing, or maybe what controller u prefer. I mean we all know about rrod's or the ps3's free but inferior online play. GFX are honestly pretty damn close. I wouldn't even call it a factor. U already have a blu-ray which is usually the main selling point, but the 360 runs with netfilx. Bottom line is that there is no BETTER system in a choice like this. You just have to look at them for youself and see which one you think u will get the most use out of. Either way it's better then a Wii. Heh sorry couldn't help myself :D

Yeah, that right there probably sealed the deal for me. Looking at the lists of exclusives, the 360 has less overall, and the ones it has are worse.

I say get a 360 mainly because I find that 360 exclusives tend to be better than the PS3 ones (just my opinion, don't start flipping because I like Mass Effect and Fable 2.), the online multiplayer seems to be better even though you have to pay for it and multi-plat games tend to run better on the 360 than the PS3.

Oh god, decision!

I'd probably just save up and get both. (Of course, I already have a classic 360/PS3 so...)

The PS3 slim I guess, it does have InFamous and LittleBig Planet....

Either is good, just check out the exclusives and which you would prefer.

I have a 360 so I can play with my friends but PS3 seems to have better exclusives, but Xbox has better online play....

Bah! See what your friends have and who you want to play with!
That is about the best advice that I have seen in one of these kind of threads.

But really can we just make one constant thread that list th pros and cons of both systems, cause I am tired of every other week some body needs and opinion on which one would be better for him/her. It isn't that I don't want to help them, but this is starting to become like WW2, I have gone through so many times I might as well get a teaching degree and work at a college.

You should choose your system based on what titles your interested in playing. If the PS3 only has one or two to the Xbox 360's five or six then go for the Xbox but if the inverse is the case then go PS3.

I went with the 360 because it had more games that tickled my fancy. Though, I do sometimes long to continue my love of Metal Gear Solid, but as of now the 360 is fine. I don't see many faults with the PS3. I'm not into the whole blueray thing, and the online aspects of the 360 are easy to manage and are not to overtly complicated.

Edit: forget the 360 Elite. A bigger hard drive and a black case are not worth the money. Most likely you will never fill the hard drive on the regular 360.
The Elite is less vulnerable to the red rings of death.

Depends on what you are looking for. I own a 360 but I've played PS3 as well as borrowed one from a friend for awhile, and I reccommend the Xbox.

-Xbox LIVE is the best online experience in any of the consoles, if you want to play online a lot.
-If you already have a blu-ray player, then you don't really need the one that comes with the PS3, because it is only necessary for playing movies. Video games never take up nearly enough space on any disc to warrant using blu-ray, since no game has ever come close to filling even a standard DVD.
-The PS3's blu-ray player doen't give it better graphics than the Xbox 360.
-Xbox also has games such as:
---Dead Rising(sequel coming soon)
---Mass Effect
---Left 4 Dead
---Crackdown
---Saints Row
---Too Human

Also, If you are worried about RROD, Xbox 360 Elites don't red ring, and even if it happens to, Microsoft does a good enough job compensating. I live in Canada and it only took a week or so for me to get my Xbox back.

I've nearly filled my standard hard drive already, and I don't download things very often.
The bigger hard drive if extremely useful for Xbox Live Arcade downloads, as well as installing your games onto your hard drive, which allows you to play the game with practically half of the loading time.

I have both and by now I'm actually pretty surprised that I haven't lit my 360 on fire and thrown it off the Tappan Zee Bridge. My 360 has broken 4 times (and not just RROD), had to recover my gamertag about 800 times, and the New Xbox Experience is much harder to navigate than the old Dashboard. Worst of all is just that I enjoy PS3 more. The only upside to the 360 is that it has Netflix, if you want to pay the extra fee.

Edit: also I think the guy above me listed Too Human as a good xbox 360 exclusive, coincidentally, Too Human is a colossal piece of shit.
