I know this is a obscure poll, but I'm going to invest in one of these two things. For me, it's almost an obvious choice, but I want to run it by some.

The John 5 Squier Telecaster, a 700$ guitar, sounds nothing like a normal guitar, and is a beauty. I'm a devoted guitar player, I play 2-4 hours every day and practice hard, and that guitar is a dream, it gives such a great sound. It is the opposite of my Les Paul.

But, I'm also a gamer. I feel like I've missed out on so many titles that are so great, and they keep coming. God of War, Little Big Planet, Kingdom Hearts, Resistance, etc.

So, what would you say is the better choice?

EDIT: I should have told, I own a Wii and 360.

I dunno I get more happiness from my guitar rather than my PS3, but since you already have a guitar and you don't have any new gen consoles. You may want to go with a PS3.

The John 5 Squire Telecaster will make your future more dynamic and interesting over the long term. I say the guitar.

Which do you think you'd get more enjoyment from? The guitar is more expensive now, but after you start buying games the PS3 will probably exceed that cost if you're thinking financially. It sounds to me like you really like that guitar and imo you should go with that.

If you already have a very nice Les Paul, and no next-gen consoles, go with the PS3. It will save you a lot of money too, 299 verses 700.

Guitar, unless you already own one. Don't buy a fancy pantsy guitar when you have a good enough one.

The PS3 is pretty neat.

If you have a OK guitar, buy the PS3. If you have no guitar and no PS3, buy the guitar.

Guitar, just because it's a more healthy hobby. Plus, it gets the chicks!

If you can test-drive the exact guitar you will be buying, then go for the guitar. Otherwise, you must accept that Squier's quality control is essentially non-existent.

If you can't play the guitar before you buy it, take the PS3.

Or man up and buy a real Tele. A *real* one, with single coils.

Voted for a PS3 since it'll last you alot longer than a simple (and over expensive) guitar.

Tied 5\5 now, but PS3 > anything eles Other than a Gaming PC

The reason I want it is that it has the John 5 sound. Otherwise, I'm not that fond of Tele's. And the thing is, Squier didn't make it and just put the J5 label on it, he came to them and said "Can I make my guitar, but with your label and at a much cheaper price?" He designed it himself, and made it exactly (almost) like his Prototype model.

On the contrary, the titles for PS3 will one day stop, and a new console will come along, amking the PS3 low-tech. The guitar can last for a life-time.

PS3= entertainment
Guitar= real happiness.

I think its quite obvious which you should choose.
And considering that you've been talking a lot more about the guitar in the thread, you prolly just feel like you need other people to assure you that you're making the right decision.

You've got me a little there. I'm such a music fanatic, and I have aspirations to become a guitarist. So for my entertainment and future career, I'm thinking that a guitar would be nice. But on the other hand, I already have a pretty neat Epiphone Les Paul, isn't the best, but isn't the worst.

Design and appearance are one matter, but construction is another. Yes, he may have designed it, and yes, they may have made it the spitting image of his real guitar; but I *promise* you that the construction will not be up to scratch. The neck will be at a slight angle, the body will be a little warped or misshapen, the string trees will be string trees, the pickups will be wired shoddily, and a million other things can combine with the quality of the wood to give you a guitar that doesn't sound nearly as good as the real McCoy.

UNLESS YOU PLAY IT FIRST.

The problem with Squier is quality control. They don't check every guitar they make for quality, which means that out of a hundred guitars that leave the factory, maybe five are actually made the way they're supposed to.

To give it a different perspective: no-one at the factory tested your guitar to see that it's built correctly. If you don't, who will?

EDIT: If you have an Epi LP, it makes little sense to buy another entry-level guitar. Take your $700 and buy something really cool, like an actual Gibson LP. If you really want to take the instrument seriously, get yourself a very good axe that you can rely on (and keep the Epi for alternate tunings or a backup or w/e). Better yet, get yourself a good amp and/or effects unit(s).

Yea, "one day"
Do you have any idea how long that will be? With so many games coming out these days (In general) I dought that will be anytime in the next 4-5 years. I think it might have even a longer lifespan than the PS2.

With a guitar? Alright, sure, it "can" last longer, but it can only be used to play music, if you know how . Other than that and maybe banging someone in the head with it.

I still think the Ps3 > Guitar is the best choice for less money to be spent also.
