so ive got a descision to make. My 18th birthday is next week and after ill have enough money to get a ps3 which i really do want. However if i save my money ill be able to get the WiiU on launch. The pros for the ps3 is that there are already quite a few games out that i really want with more coming soon the con for the ps3 is that its nearing the end of its cycle. Then the WiiU, i love nintendo and i love their games and i love the concept of the WiiU, the con for it is that ill have to wait a while for there to be as many games out that i want as the ps3 has, itll also cost 300 euro.....i will get it eventually but..yeah...So basically, i want your opinion! thats right you!

EDIT: My polls been eaten...boourns!

Get the PS3. You have a gigantic catalogue of great games that are now at bargain prices, and some pretty nifty exclusives.

I'm not a gambler so I'd go for the PS3 since I know it's worth it. The WiiU could be better or worse, and I'd rather not take that chance (because I have terrible luck).

Honestly?

I'd hang onto the money. Hold off on buying the PS3, and wait for a little bit after the WiiU launch. That way you can see if the WiiU is actually worth your money based on user feedback and your own personal testing with demo systems or systems your friends/family bought before you actually spend the money. If it turns out the WiiU doesn't really appeal to you, the PS3 will still be out there, and maybe even a bit cheaper.

That's what I'd do, anyway.

Granted, after the X-Box 360 launch and failure rate fiasco (I worked for Best Buy at the time and there were soooooo many returns), I'm disinclined to buy any console at launch anymore.

You should save up for the Wii U and get the PS3 a year from now when it's used and very cheap. That is the best possible outcome. New system with all the new system tiddlybits, and you'll get a 'last gen' system after the fact with a plethora of cheaper games (by that time).

Glad to be of assistance. Hopefully the wait won't be too painful!

PS3 hands down, it's an available tested platform with a huge library of games, vs a non existing platform that may come out god knows when and in what state, and as always all launch titles will be piss.

Honestly, the PS3 will most likely prove the best by a long shot, though we won't know for a few months.

I would just get the PS3 cheap (you can nowadays, but be careful) and it will last you for at least three years of new games before it becomes obselete by the next generation. You will also have the back-catalogue, free multiplayer, and if you try and look for the rare launch consoles, PS1 and PS2 games will also be playable.

WiiU will be a big gamble. We know the PS3 is good. We don't know if the WiiU will be good. Go with certainties, unless you're a huge Nintendo Franchise fan.
