I was playing the Twin Sector demo on steam recently, and the game is obviously ripping off portal. However, I noticed that the game was trying to give you the feeling that you were all alone, even though the trailer told you that you weren't. This is most likely an attempt to unnerve you. However, Portal tried to make you feel like you were never alone, and that you were being watched. Only to let you know that you are all alone. I found Portal's method to be much more effective at messing with my head, what about the Escapist?
Which way makes you more uneasy, being alone without knowing it, or knowing you are alone and then finding out you aren't?

Knowing you're alone, if you don't know it then I don't think it creates the anxiety of true aloneness. Sure, with the other option you'll get a good end, but the rest will be bad... Portal was a great game though, not for the aloneness, more of the cleverness, and humour. However, I really hate it when a good game gets ripped off every moment. Devolopers are just trying to fit every aspect of games that worked and trying to sell the jumbled mess.

I think a game where you thought you were alone, with the occasional moving shadow or person that disappeared around corners could be more interesting.
