The problem with more specific polls is that they can't cater to every option. I have played the first and I loved it (what I played anyway) but won't be getting the second, or at least not any time soon, for a simple reason: I can't run it. If and when the console version is released, I'll likely see if I can get it but until then, probably not.

Probably not, the first game was very bad, so I doubt I'll pick this up.
If I do, it won't be until it drops in price significantly.
Everybody hated the combat in the first game. But that's what this one is promising to fix.
It wasn't just the combat that I disliked, although that was easily the shittiest part of the game.

I'm very much looking forward to it. In fact I don't think I've had this much anticipation towards a game release in years.

Replaying the first game now, despite the games occasional flaws I'm just struck by the sheer breadth and scale of the game and how damned close they came to pulling it off despite using an archaic game engine and it also being their first attempt at a game. I mean The Witcher was made using the Aurora engine, best known for the original Neverwinter Nights, and yet it still managed to look breathtaking in places and even now looks quite nice thanks to the level of detail the developers have put into every little thing. Having read what few books of The Witcher series have been translated to english, I can also appreciate the level of detail they put into the setting and story as well. This is obviously a company that cares about the setting and story and wanted to stay as true to that as possible with fantastic results.

So the thought of this same team now with some experience under their belts, a better engine to work with, and a higher budget is a beautiful one. And everything I've seen and read about the game indicates that this could be something special.

I mean that article you link to was written by Alec Meer, who actually disliked the first game. So if after playing the preview code of the game he's that excited you can't go blaming nostalgia and whatnot, the games standing alone. Can't wait to see why!

Considering how badly the first one ran on my PC(which blew my mind, since I meet all the required specs)the only way I'll be getting the sequel is if they make a console version, and hire better voice actors. I didn't play much of the game, but the voice acting was some of the most cringe-worthy stuff I've heard in a modern game.

I didn't really like the combat, and I lost interest during the first town in Witcher 1.

Two has a new combat system and looks quite good. So i'm not sure if I want to buy or not yet.
