Poll: Pull the trigger 101

I've fired a couple of different 12 bores, a Lee Enfield and an AK of some kind, probably an AKM or 47 but I'm not entirely sure of the difference.

Most likely not a true blue 47 and while I don't have any pictures to look at, I'd wager it isn't a true blue AKM either. Any idea as to where it came from?

Well, I was about 70km NE of Minsk and it was 1994, so I'm guessing it probably was a "true blue" or more appropriately "true red" AK47 or M

Fun fact: Something like 80% of AK variant weapons in circulation are not true Russian made. Not saying yours isn't, though a picture would really help with identifying it.

The only thing I'd say it most likely isn't is an original model AK-47. The late 40s early 50s models are very rare.

I go shooting at every opportunity, so needless to say I love it. Everything from the crack, the recoil, to the smell, it all adds up to bliss for me. I also like it because it helps me focus not just when I am shooting but at other times as well. I spend most my time on a Glock 19, but I've handled shotguns, rifles, revolvers and even an assault rifle a few times.

Nope. But I do want to. I'm a pretty good shot with almost every other method of propelling things at other things, apart from just throwing them. I want to see if I'm good with a gun as well...

Damn straight! If there was a war then High Wycombe has Bomber Command sitting in the outskirts and the RGS on the hill with 4 LSWs, 20 no 8s and 50 L98s. We are like a goddamn fortress of (sigh) 'rugbyness' as a classmate called it. We also have the navy and the RAF...

It wasn't mine, it belonged to the father of the family I was staying with who was in the army before the breakup of the USSR and then went into the Belarus Police. While it is indeed possible, I find it unlikely that the Soviet Interior ministry used foreign manufactured weapons.

Huh, that changes the facts a little. I'll assume it was select fire correct? Safe, Semi, Auto? And you said it had a wooden stock. Do you happen to remember what the end of the muzzle looked like? Was it flat or did it have a slant? Did the dust cover have ribs on it?

We weren't allowed to fire it on full auto but I imagine it was capable of doing so, the very tip was flat. I'm not quite sure what you mean by dust cover, not that I remember much about the details, it was 17 years ago.

I've shot about 30 different guns and I own 9. I would go into detail, but I don't think anybody actually cares.

C6 (Like an M16,but has more options on the selector switch,and an optical sight is standard issue). I liked it,actually...Makes a satisfying sound,and it's an ambidextrous weapon. Feels light,too. Fired at targets,though. Might not enjoy it if I'm shooting at real people,however. (Why would a medic need a weapon,anyway? They're non combat personnel!)
