So this raises a new question - is a turtle allowed to punch you in self-defence?

Yes, but its possible that the case is horribly exaggerated in turtle media. In which case while the turtle who punched you will go to turtle prison, the victim will also be shunned by the turtle society.

So, it seems that if people ever meet turtles, we are to attack them on sight, just in case the turtles try something funny - we'd be protected under turtle law and people law. Unless the turtle is female - we're still not sure on the legal stance there. In that case, if we do meet turtles, we should politely ask their gender before deciding on action: male - attack, female - stand in awkward silence and try and go over the legal side of things.

Hey atleast turtles can swim. Besides judging from this thread, the turtle would probably bite the random stranger and immobilize him, drowning the guy.

I guess we have to punch the turtle to save the guy before the turtle drowns him.

OK if the turtle bites me and has immobilising poison, then I don't think I would be capable of punching. However, if the turtle hasn't bit me yet, then surely I would the one initiating the attack. So this raises a new question - is a turtle allowed to punch you in self-defence?

I don't know. If a guy has a knife, you don't need to wait to be stabbed n order to be considered to defend yourself.
