Either death or sign them up for a Penal Legion.
If they can murder, then they can murder for their country.
as an expendable scum legion of troops.

No it does not, it only costs 11 cents to put a bullet in a convict.

I costs thousands of dollars a year to feed and cloth an inmate for life.
Actually, you have to pay for the last meal and everything because of deathrow and whatnot, and if you don't have that then you're basically commiting an act of agravated murder making you no better than him.

That last meal is still WAY cheaper than a LIFETIME of food and fresh clothes.

Does this mean we should go kill my father, or something?
Revenge is pointless. She acted like a *****, but he was the victim. The chick should have been humiliated by her own behavior.
Not we as we are not the wronged party. However if the woman he cheated on decided to say, chop off his penis while he slept then throw it into the garbage disposal then I would not at all blame her.
Cheating is just a disgusting act for cowards who do not even have the common decency to tell their current partner they do not want them any more. Plus it also puts their partners health at risk because they may pick up an STD from this other person.
Then there's the fact that I have just seen too many nice guys become bitter, misogynistic assholes because the tramp they were with could not keep her legs closed.
Um... He cheated on my mother. And has done way more than just that.

I think you misunderstood my post.
The first line was my response to your post. Then I went to talking about the OP.
I guess I should have made that more clear.

I say that the death sentence is most probably the best way to make sure nothing happens.
An eye for an eye and all that stuff.
But maybe we should just torture him, and bring him to the edge of reason, and then recruit him as a goverment funded super assassin and they send him to do their evil and make sure 'nobody knows what happend'

Not nessecarily true, death row provides all that stuff as well along with the last meal at the end. I actually support the death penalty, I just think it's too controvertial to have in this day and age.

I've always believed that the punishment for commiting a crime should serve to prevent the criminal from wanting to commit the crime again. The problem with this is we never really know when the criminal is reformed enough so that he wont do this kind of act again. In serious crimes I'd give them a sentence first then if they prove that they cant be reformed death sentence via gillotine (Quick, easy and cheap method) we've all heard the horror stories of murderers or rapists getting out to only commit the crime again in a matter of weeks/months etc. So I dont see why we should support a human being that will not beable to return to society in a safe way. We put down rabid dogs and other animals so humans should have the same future if they cannot change.
I am by no means a criminologist so I wont pretend to know how to properly deal with these people, the above is purely opinion and is subject to change.

I'd say throw him in jail for 15 years, if he behaves very well then release him, if he behaves badly add another 10 years on.

The sooner the inmate dies the cheaper it is.

But with the death penalty comes a certain amount of laws about how long that person is entitled to a life after they commit the crime, of course it might not be as much as a whole life in prison but taking care if inmates is relatively cheap, they clean their own stuff and get a square meal each day which you pay for anyway. Also remember that the last meal can be whatever they want so it could be really expensive cuisine, like really expensive.

That is a myth you realize. The last meal thing. At least it isn't true here in New York.

Well it's obviously within reason. But it's still a documented fact that it costs more to keep someone on death row, don't ask me why though, for I know not.

Right, not trying to be intentionally ignorant, but iv'e not read the excuses some people must have written for their vote for death, but frankly its pretty discusting that so many people (granted at the time its only 16 or something) would be so barbaric, if this is really an anywhere near proportion of the general publics view, then no wonder the world is so messed up, and the futures pretty....*darn*...bleak too

Everyone convicted of a serious enough crime should be sent to a large island in the south pacific and dropped off on the beach. All of them on the same island. Fend for themselves, create their own convict laws and do whatever the hell they want. Set a couple coastguard boats to patrol the waters in case they decide to make a raft. That is it. Problem solved.
I laughed hard reading this xD I think we should throw in George Carlin's idea of making such stuff into a TV channel, so we can watch murderers, rapists and other self-condemned individuals fight amongst each other to survive, like you say. xD
Just hide tons of cameras and microphones everywhere.

The guy obviously had some unseen issues to murder her, but she quite clearly was no angel. Cheating then publically humiliating him...she was asking for something bad to happen. However, murder is wrong, and he should get a prison sentence. I don't see how torturing him would be justified (in any situation.)

That statement literally does not compute. I read it three times and i can't feel anything towards it. I hope to god you are joking because the urges to laugh, be appalled, and be astounded all compete and ultimate leaving me with a serious case of WTF.
Edit -

Bah, computer malfunction, anyway, time to type what I was going to.

It's unfortunately true, at least last time I checked. Here in the states it was something like 2 mil to keep someone alive for life, and 3 mil to kill them, because of the red tape crap. I'll try to see if I can find that again.

OT - 25 to life.

10 years in jail. I wouldn't say lifetime since hes got a "reason" for the murder, but since that reason obviusly won't cover up for the muder, he still desirves a few years behind bars.

Some people get off being tortured...
And the death sentance is inpractical anyway so thats a bad idea.

How about..now i'm only brainstorming here, but if a man is either charged for murder or rape...how about we take them to the top of the Himilayas and strip them naked and crucify them! :D

The executor wont have to be put to death for killing him (since thats what would happen if the death sentance went ahead) because he would have died from the cold =D
