Poll: Punkbuster

*Sigh* I hate Punkbuster so much. Maybe it's just me, but it ruins every game I've used it for. In BF2, couldn't play ranked online. I had to play wake island over and over. I tried ports, updates, manual, automatic, everything, but it still failed like a one legged puppy at a dog show. Now I've finally decided to get MW and I'm having a blast, but I can't enjoy it because every five minutes I get a special surprise from Punkbuster. I have an unauthorized driver/program or something else and suddenly it kicks me out. I haven't played a round for more then a solid half hour of any server that used Punkbuster. What I want to know is why companies would even consider using it, or am I just special?

Punkbuster claims something on my computer is a multihack by the error code it gives me when it kicks me for 0 seconds if I get a kill.

The only thing I can think of that could affect this, is my G15 keyboard because I can't remember getting an error before that. Which doesn't say much because the only time I had no problems with PB, was when I used a hack that basically removed PB from PB protected servers.

EDIT: I should add that that hack to remove PB was in 2005, when I had a similar problem(random error) but played with a clan.

PunkBuster is definitely annoying. I used to have all kinds of problems connecting to BF2 (getting kicked, not being able to join, etc). Luckily, I haven't had any recent problems with it. Sometimes I will get kicked but running the PunkBuster update program fixes it every time.

As for why companies would use it? It does catch some hacks, but nothing beats a good old fashioned banhammer to the face from an admin.

I can't say I ever had a problem with it while playing MW or... what was the other one that used it... Crysis? Whatever. I've heard enough other people complain about it that I'm sided against Punkbuster.

I'm just using servers without PB. This would be easier if I could filter PB off instead of just on.
