I might be studying abroad soon in Australia and my choice is between Brisbane and Gold Coast.

As a person who enjoys nature, up-beat night-life, cool day time activities and sports activities which one would seem like the best choice for me? Right now im kinda leaning more Gold Coast due to the fact they offer more courses in my subject of study.

GOLD COAST! I've got an uncle that lives up there and there's plenty of sunshine, plenty of lovely forests and beaches, plenty of lovely people and plenty of parties (If I were you I might want to look into a thing called Schoolies, if you look the part in the gold coast you might be hitting up parties every night for a week).

Ya I saw what they are but when i go i will probably be 21 or 22 years old. I heard the high schoolers don't take kind to "toolies" hitting up their parties.

Should always have a third option so somebody can satisfy voting without having to vote for something they believe to be only half right.
I voted Brisbane because larger cities are usually superior in most things.
But also, don't come here.
It's boiling, and the girls aren't anything to look at. :)D) And if you're female, disregard that... and if you're homosexual and female, disregard that.

Brisbane.

But I'd make the decision based on what's going to be of most benefit to your education. Don't ever compromise on that, man.

Brisbane, Gold Coast would be too distracting from your studies, and Yahtzee lives there. You should come to Adelaide if you could though, We ROCK!

Perth! No, it's shit boring for people who don't like the outdoors. Perth is sorta like where you store all your stuff whilst you go out and do stuff in the rest of the state.

Unless your a giant douchbag, move to Brisbane. I strongly dislike most people who live there.

Brisbane is an awesome place, the night life is awesome as it has one of the best live music scenes in Australia, and the ManaBar. Plus there is a bunch of great unis in Brisbane. And is you really want to visit the Goldie, its only a train ride away.

Anyways, best of luck with it all.

Choosing between Gold Coast and Brisbane is like choosing between Hell and Tartarus, one might have a slightly nicer name but they are both places of infernal torment.

Come to Melbourne, or failing that... *shudder* Sydney.

From an education point of view you probably want to stay away from the gold coast. Yes there are parties, and fun, (and drugs), and fights, and beaches, but there are beaches everywhere here, and really, student life is fun in any city. Also, in Sydney you might get killed or something. Everything good and bad that happens in Australia happens in Sydney.

You may call me a douchebag but you kinda turned me off from Brisbane nightlife with that statement. I mean I enjoy videogames with my bros/mates as much as anyone but having a bar where you play video games just kinda seems lame. I go to bars and clubs to drink, dance, flirt, and have a good time.

Uni wise, I think their Uni's are just about equal in terms of comparison. I'll give Brisbane a slight edge since Uni Queensland is very prestigious.

Well I looked at Melbourne and the housing is just too damn expensive and don't get me started on Sydney's house pricing. Besides it looks like Melborune is the Australian version of a massive hipster town.

Oh no you did not call Melbourne hipster... you did not... History, Culture, Sports, and best of all very few damn Queenslanders.

Sydney has nothing on Adelaide, city of serial killers.

Brisbane has The Valley for night clubs etc. Incidentally it also has The valley for vicious drunks and equally vicious bouncers. But really the 2 arn't all that far apart. Drive 2 hours and you're there. I'd say Brisbane because you get to go to Stradbroke Island from there and also The Mana Bar is there.

One thing I notice in you, that I happen to notice in a lot of Aussie's is they are damn proud of the area they live in and usually like to bash other cities or provinces they consider rivals. Which is why I have a hard time with this because it is hard to find an unbias source.

In my experience the only two cities with any real 'nightlife' are Sydney and Melbourne, QLD in general is filled with old people. Housing in Sydney is very, very expensive, so if it was me I'd be looking into share housing in Melbourne. QLD is a really nice place to go for a holiday, but I wouldn't live there for any prolonged period of time (though I guess the same can be said about Australia in general, hopefully I can leave this inferno of a country soon after I finish my degree).

Go for the city which will better your education imo, also i still recommend the Gold coast. Great beaches, brilliant skateparks and many, many fine women.

Well I will I am just seeing how aussie's think of these cities. Right now I am about 80% sure I will go to gold coast because it's schools specialize in Kinetics and Psysiology which is my major and it sounds like an awesome place.
