Well the English moved to America and had a battle. So it was a battle between some of the English and the other half of the English. I can't see how I, as an Englishman, can lose that battle.

well to be fair , we beat the US in 1812 war , where America invaded Canada, and the Brits ended up burning Washington D.C down. so the U.S Lost that one, 
It's not so much that we lost the revolutionary war as it is a reminder that our once mighty empire has been reduced to nothing more than a gaggle of islands off the coast of Europe that has become this liberal beacon of hope for all these immigrants to pour in. Being reminded that America had won its independence only serves to remind us of this fact, and it is that that people may be bitter toward.
But do we care? I don't think so, that's like asking if the world is still mad at Germany for starting two world wars. People have gotten over it by now. Of course you'll get the odd patriot who'll be mad, but not the general public. However if there's anything to be bitter about it may be that a major reason the US won its independence is because they got aid from France, who was pissed at us at the time. I can't remember why, but i know that had a significant impact on the war. Doesn't help when the global perception of the French isn't exactly a shining one to begin with.
