Hehe, "dating". That's such an American thing.
Frankly the whole concept is so forced and awkward I don't know how you can stand it.

It's easier to do trivial things when not suffocating on our smugness.

That would have been witty if it made sense.

I'll admit I phrased it rather smugly, but I'm just being honest. Dating is creepy. It's essentially conducting formal job interviews to decide who is best suited to be your mating partner. How is that fun or romantic at all?

My sense of chivalry would make me feel obligated to pay.

This, although I would NOT pay if they intentionally ordered something last minute or something expensive, there IS a line. But normally I would pay and get it over with.
