Earlier today I saw a user say that eating meat is "disgusting and wrong" I was wondering if several vegatarians thought that, or if it was rather rare. It seemed like he/she felt like no one should eat meat. To me, meat is something that most animals eat (even if its just insects, and btw don't most veg. eat fish, im getting off topic) and is perfectly normal, but I understand if you don't want to eat meat for health reasons or etc. So yea, do you think it's disgusting and no one should eat meat, or do you just perfer not to personally.
Edit: I have no problem with vegatarians, just ask'n a question.

My choice for not eating meat is not based on the fact that I want to live a healthy life. I smoke (trying to quit now) and was drinking quite heavily for a long while. Strange that most people think these things go hand in hand.
As for what I think about other people that do eat meat? To each his/her own, I'm not the one who would say it's right or wrong. I've heard about some 'hardcore' vegetarians who won't eat with other people that do eat meat or throw it from their plate if they do.
I would rather slap some sence in to those people than sit and have a meal with them.

A few of my good friends are Vegatarians and none of them are crazy preachy. Like most things, a loud minority overshadows a quiet majority, and I think you'll find the majority of Vegaterians are not preachy and forceful.

I'm not a vegetarian now, but I stopped eating meat for a period of time because I always felt sick afterward (it turns out that we usually have bread with our meats, and I was diagnosed with celiacs, so that was what was making me sick).

Some people call themselves vegetarians and eat fish, but then they're not vegetarians are they? I never understood that way of thinking, but both my sister and my uncle are like that.

Obviously some people think eating meat is wrong, others do it for health reasons (cutting back on red meat due to high cholesterol is an example.), or they just don't like it. It's impossible to generalize.

Can you explain that to me?

I'm not a vegetarian but I am gonna speak on behalf of my vegetarian friend. Her entire family is vegetarian based on the principle they feel it's wrong to kill any animal for any reason.

Back when we were younger, she would try to force her boyfriends into becoming vegies along with some of us mates but we just kind of laughed it off. Funny thing is she even admits things such as bacon or burgers smell lovely, she just hates where they came from.

As it is we can all go out for a meal quite happily now and there's no dodgy looks or "you shouldn't be eating that". People who do that sort of thing need a slap really, stop trying to force your own opinions on others, jeez.

Being vegan gives you super powers. FACT.

I get why people don't eat meat, but I would rather enjoy it than not. I have other ways to be healthy, like running regularly. I mean, If you don't like how animals are treated before bing killed, power to you, but I just don't care at all.

That's called a pescetarianism, not vegetarianism.

OT: It really depends on why they are vegetarian in the first place. People who do it for health reasons tend to be less preachy than those who do it for animal rights. There are exceptions, but it follows that trends quite a bit.

The veggies that eat fish are Pescatarians I'm told... Indecisive twats.

OT: If someone is going to actually take issue with my lifestyle choice of eating like a human because they think eating like a rabbit is somehow a winner I just view them as woefully misinformed about their own species. We got this big fat brain by eating other animals so I'm going to stick with the winning formula of 50,000 years of success and growth.

I never really liked meat, so when I stopped living with my folks, I stopped eating most meats because I had other options. It gradually stopped from there. It's also for health reasons.

Sure. To put it quite frank: I don't like the thought of having a dead animal on my plate so it's more for the animals than anything else. Though I am not a die hard non-animal based product user, because I don't want to be nitpicking along the line of having to consider every bit of food or liquid I use. Not eating meat is just my own personal little pebble that is going into the ocean but I don't bother with it.
At first I thought that the keeping of livestock would have more impact than planting vegetables, but they are cutting down forests on a large scale to plant soja now... so that probably doesn't matter.

My friend at the time ruined it for me and another friend had kept telling me about vegetarianism and i got interested.

just because i don't choose to eat meat does not mean i should not dictate how other people live their lives unless it is life threatening.

Yet the one think i miss is pemeal bacon. good with eggs!

Oh, I thought that you thought it was unhealthy to eat meat, beacause that's not true.
"Fish is a good source of protein and, unlike fatty meat products, it's not high in saturated fat. Fish is also a good source of omega-3 fatty acids. Omega-3 fatty acids benefit the heart of healthy people, and those at high risk of - or who have - cardiovascular disease. Research has shown that omega-3 fatty acids decrease risk of arrhythmias (abnormal heartbeats), which can lead to sudden death. Omega-3 fatty acids also decrease triglyceride levels, slow growth rate of atherosclerotic plaque, and lower blood pressure (slightly)."

Taken from here.

I understand you're reasoning now.

I'm a vegetarian but it's not cool to force it on other people. My boyfriend is a meat eater but he often has Veg stuff with me and even enjoys it as well. This is all without me forcing me beliefs on him.

I'm a vegetarian, just beacuse I don't want any animal to die for me. When I can live without it.
