"... All except Oropharyngitis are acceptable".

Though I say that mainly because I've never heard about Oropharyngitis before and have never seen it shortened as OP. I've only seen Opening Post, Opening Poster and OverPowered as three meanings of OP.

The most common uses are Original Post and Original Poster, both equally valid and distinguishable via context.

OP = Original Poster/Post (to refer to the first post to tell him something in the thread)
OT = Original Topic (to get back on the topic when you've derailed from it)

There are the two important ones.

Original Post or Original Poster, pretty simple.
"TC" also works, but that seems to not be in fashion here.

So after 38 posts, I think everyone has agreed on "Original Post/Poster".

Good work, escapist - as efficient and decided as always.

When I see OP, I think original poster. I'd have to check urbandictionary or something to find out the actual definition.
