I'm really wanting to get this game. I've heard (mostly) good things about it but the only thing I'm weary of is that the thing people seem to be unanimously hating are the bugs.

So, I'm just asking, are they really that bad? Are they to the point that it breaks the game like in Fallout 3's GOTY version? And is it really worth the full price?

I know there's no discussion value really here but....to add to that, what's your favourite Bethesda game?

Also, if it matters, I only have a PS3 but I'll be getting a 360 soon

I've come across a grand total of 1 bug, and that was only a radscorpion falling through the ground. Ignore all the bitchy comments, buy it and enjoy it.

Yes, the bugs are annoying.
Especially the bloody Cazadors...
Apart from those insects, I've encountered little to no software bugs.
I'd say it is worth getting, Julian ;3

Seriously, I need to stop hating things that are almost universally praised. I come off as far more of a troll than I mean to be. Not that I mean to be a troll at all but.. You know what I mean. I hope.
Yes, you really need to work on that. Especially concerning a certain film with a notable adrenaline scene...

I'm playing it on PC, and although an occasionally bug or crash occurs, it seems to happen to me much less often than it did on Fallout 3.

To be fair though, there is pretty damn big amount of bugs that people have had that I never even experienced so I really don't know.

It's worth slogging through some annoying bugs though, I personally think this game is way better than 3 was.

The only bug I've had is a raider falling on it's side, then moving like a shark through the ground trying to stab me. No crashes whatsoever.

However, my friend has had like 5 crashes. (We both play it on PC, by the way)

It's certainly an expansion upon Fallout 3. Better stories to the side quests. You don't see the same boring ruined building as often as you would in Fallout 3. Another great thing is that the green tinge is gone.

Playing it on a console eh? Then wait for a patch. If you're getting it for the PC, it's already been patched.

But yeah, from what I've heard, you REALLY want to wait for a patch. I did - even though I got it for the PC, I waited for the patch specifically because I did not want broken quests or swivelling, rotating heads.

The graphical bugs are bearable, but broken quests are not, and apparently there are more than a few quests that are just plain BROKEN without the patch - as in, you CANNOT finish them. That's unacceptable from my perspective.

But it IS a great game. Don't get me wrong, it's awesome. Just really, really buggy pre-patched.

I think the patch is out for consoles now anyway.

I havent encountered any bugs i didnt go looking for.

If the occasional radscoripion halfway in the ground, or random crash every few hours doesnt bother you, your going to have a great time.

I have almost 60 hours thrown in and i havent encounted any "Game breaking bugs" people complain about, nor have any of my friends who have purchased the game.

Most of the time, i think its people just blowing the bugs out of perportion.

My advice, if your computer can handle it, get it for PC. From what ive heard, the PC has less bugs, but im sure most people who complain about bugs are fromt he younger group of gamers. ((i mean the group that uses the terms "f*g" every 60 seconds.))

Yes it's worth getting, seems even better than fo3 so far. I'm 30 hours in playing on a PC, and have had 0 crashes, and seen only one 'bug', one of those reptile things stuck to a rock.. which it got free from anyway. After I killed it of course.

I'd personally wait until they release a good patch for New Vegas.
But, It's your decision not mine.

I've personally had about seven or eight crashes in the past few days on my PC version of New Vegas, and that's from about 3 hours of total gameplay over two days.

However, the PC version isn't as bad as the PS3 and 360 versions, so if you insist on gettingit, then get it on PC.
Personally, I can't fucking believe I payed full price for it, even tho I play it on my PC, I'm just fucking fuming that Bethesda and Obsidian thought it was okay to release a game as broken as it is.

3 hours in and my game has entirely died, with the cd having seemingly corrupted itself to the extent that it won't play on even my housemate's 360.
After I've managed to wrangle a refund off Amazon I'll consider getting it on pc, but not till they've released a couple more patches that actually solve the bugs.

Why are you making a forum about this? get it now! yes there is bugs but the whole experience is worth it. Also it's my favourite Bethseda game so....Maybe Alpha Protocol if that counts...

It is buggy, but not all that much more than Fallout 3. Mainly I've been getting graphical bugs like enemies spazzing out and bits of the enviroment disappearing. I've also had my companions run away from me and one time one of the major quests failed for no reason. And one freeze. And constant frame rate issues. And I know I'm not getting anywhere near the worst of it.

...So yeah, it's very buggy.

But it still manages to be 10 times better than Fallout 3 for writing alone which is some of the best I've heard since Red Dead Redemption, plus how much effect you can have on the story...It just boggles the mind. Seriously, do get, just remember to save often.
