Do you recognize this situation?
"Oo a big enemy, he must have a lot of loot! *ten seconds later* HE'S PUNCHING OUT ALL MY BLOOD"
That could be prevented by quicksaving :)

Personally I'm very bummed when I find out a game does not have this feature and the playthrough becomes a lot more tedious that way because you have to do large parts all over again.
Except if the game is an RTS obviously.

What are your thoughts about quicksaving in games?

If the game has them, I will use them.

If the game does not have them, I will not write a letter to the company asking for them.

Basically, I'm rather neutral on this subject

I recken that quicksaving is an excellent feature that enables for a better and more smooth gaming experience (burnout paradise) however it is not a necessity in my opinion for games

EDIT- i misinterpreted quicksave as autosave

I never use it, usually I either just save or am confident of success. Recently two exceptions ruined this: deus ex and serious sam

It depends largely on the game. Some games without quicksave (Deus Ex, KotOR etc.) would be a nightmare. But in some games it's very unfitting. Imagine having quicksave in God of War. It would ruin the challenge completely.

My problem is more with the games who have poor save functions. STALKER had an annoying tendency to reset and recreate the entire game world every time you loaded instead of resuming to a previous state.

So, when fitting, yes. I'm yet to experience a game that really should've one the other way.

If the game has the feature use it. If it doesn't i will play fine without it.

I can honestly say I've never used quicksave, mainly because I'd never even heard of it until I started hanging out with other gamers, and by then I'd beaten most games that people say need them, so what's the point?

Whats the diff between manual saving and quick saving anyway? Doesn't seem any different to me.

Some games are rather impossible without quicksaving.
I mean, if you've ever played the Commandos games, you must have been very grateful for this feature.

I'm the only person who voted that quicksaves are lame? I must be playing too much Dungeon Crawl and have forgotten how boring it is to replay more than 30 seconds of most games.

What the name suggests, instead of going to menu, naming a save and pressing the save button, you just press F6 for example. When you do this a lot the difference really adds up

I quicksave near-constantly.

Compulsively.

I do not require one, but I like when it's there.
I'm also a compulsive quicksaver if the option is present. And if I'm watching a friend playing I tend to ask them (read: force them) to quicksave if they haven't done it in a while. It's that bad...

A lot of games are a lot more fun if you can quicksave and then try out something crazy. But some games would have been destroyed by QS. E.g. Prototype, Assassins Creed, most Strategy games...

I tell my brother to quicksave all the time. "You better save" "I did five minutes ago" "I know just do it again or I'll ok insane".

I can handle not having one but when I do I abuse it.

Some games can't work properly with a quicksave. Horror games are a lot less scary if you can just reload all the time.

Personally, I don't care much. Quicksave is a nice option and I like it for the most part, but if it isn't in I won't shed any tears over it...

Quick saving is useful, but becomes a crutch for certain games like Splinter Cell and the lot. You'll eventually find yourself quick saving before even the simplest task, like grabbing someone. It gets to the point where if the level isn't going perfect, you just quick load and try again.

Yes though, I do use it when available.
