Games are for fun. If I'm playing something that is otherwise enjoyable, but becomes frustrating (in a bad way), I cheat, minimally. No one gives you no-cheating cookies.

Shouldn't there be a neither option? I just peservere. I did that on the Epilouge of COD 4. I did use cheats for certain games that would allow them as a child, but I used them for fun purposes only. I didn't use them to progress through the game.

I never cheat unless I'm just screwing around like in GTA. Spawn a tank and rampage through the city. I would have picked "neither" if that was an option because i never quit a game forever, only temporarily, and cheating makes the game boring.

I'll cheat on older games when the only other option is to play through the entire game again to get back to where I was. Modern games tend to be more 'fair' and 'balanced'.

If by cheat, we mean not just codes, but walkthroughs as well, then I'll definitely cheat before I quit (I mean, I bought the game, I want my money's worth, at least to get through the story). More often than not, I'll just put the game down for a while, sometimes several months or even years, before I pick it back up again. Strangely, that tends to work more often than not, even if I haven't been working out a strategy in the meantime; Maybe it's just to do with mindset. If however, putting it to bed for a short time doesn't change things, then I'll go to the guides.

if i can't get past one part after 3 hours of throwing myself at it, then i look how to do that one part, and then i go and continue. ussually it's omly the broken bits that force me to this, but even then i sometimes get nothing.

If a game is too hard for you do you quit playing it or do you cheat?

I used to cheat when i was younger, but now i can beat most games easily. With the exeption of Starcraft. Was never good with RTS
Well, as a hardened gamer, I'll have to say neither. Although I didn't have the same mentality when I was younger, I memorized every cheat code on the GameShark.

If I need a little shunt in the right direction (read: I'm stuck on LoZ for the 43rd time, and this time the answer doesn't hit me in between the eyes whilst I'm eating breakfast), then I'll use a guide.

Achievement hunting on the other hand... There's nothing saying you can't have a hand with something :D I got the Cr0wned achievement by spawning a witch with 1hp and shooting her with a pistol

Before I actually played every game with cheats, every single one, but now I just ramp up the difficulty slider to the top and off to the massacre. (without cheats :D)

I only cheat (the first way through) if I absolutely need to (like to the point of no other way out ex. I was playing an emulator and I save stated and I couldn't back track because the door was locked and couldn't go forward because I was vastly under leveled for it. So i gave myself infinite health for 5 minutes to get out). I play games for the story mostly and gameplay second so I naturally want to get the story first.
