Poll: Quiting a Game

1: I am outnumbered 10 to one.

2: I am playing with people that I know for a fact have some sort of hack or program that increases their power.

3: I have somewhere I need to go at that very instant.

Real life, I suppose. University came around, and I just didn't have the time to finish the last 140 hours of Titan Quest.

Boredom. What else is there? I guess possibly money if you're playing an MMO, but otherwise boredom. And you can give any other excuse you want, but all they do is support your boredom.

Unlikable characters (Alpha Protocol you piece of crap) and bad mechanics (as in Epic Mickey where the camera sucked and using paint or thinner usually results in painting or thinning your feet since Mickey is a midget in the game space). Those are the two big ones I've had recently.

Economics. The moment I realize that any more time I put into this game won't be worth it, the moment I realize that the marginal benefits do not exceed the marginal costs, I stop playing and do something more worthwhile.

If I've played it too much, which is why I never play some games like Castle Crashers and Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World: The Game anymore.

Pretty specific case, but when the game's changed too much. I loved Team Fortress 2 because it was balanced, everything was fair. Now what have we got? Scouts that have rapid-fire shotgun pistols, Soldiers regenerating all their health, Heavies with miniguns that are both ultra powerful and encourage camping, the list goes on.
I haven't really quit it, but when two updates after about 10 other ones since its release make someone go from two hours of day to maybe once a week, they've done something wrong.

In Okami at the moment, it's so I don't just plow through the storyline way too fast and end up with nothing to do at the end and have all the gameplay compressed into a few days.
That being said, I'm 6 hours in and just got to... Tsuta Cave, I think it was called. Something tells me I'll spend aaages on this game, it be awesome.

Usually it's just when I'm bored though

I quit playing FF13 when you get to the part were you have to kill the tower fal'cie on pulse...

when each battle starts to take more than 30 mins, enough is enough...

I only quit games that fail to interest me. As for not finishing a game, only if it's long and repetitive like grand theft auto 4 (I found that screwing about was far more interesting than the story).

If I stop having fun is the main reason.

I don't get a sense of accomplishment from beating a game on any difficultly. Gears or War 2 was the first game I started trying to beat on harder difficulties. But I wouldn't have tried that if it wasn't one of my favorite games.

Also if I don't like the game/it gets annoying. Red Dead Redemption for example. Couldn't handle listening to whats his face anymore after playing through 3/4 of the game so I didn't finish it.

I just lose interest sometimes, the appeal of certain games wears out like Twilight Princess and Metroid Echoes because they over did something, I didn't find them challenging, boring designs, lame or annoying characters, etc.

I'm basically the same as everyone else- I quit because of real-life problems, boredom, or difficulty.

When it stops being fun, I really hate games that become challenging due to unfair AI advantage. For instance Fire Emblem games love to deploy enemy troops about halfway through a level at places where they can one-shot a unit. Other games tend to make the end more difficult by giving your enemy amazing luck, I barely beat Puzzle Quest because the end boss had this amazing ability to drop 10+ matches a turn.
