Your replies are a "quote" trap

At least, that's what I guess from observing the others. Can you prove the contrary?
...Holy shit that's awesome.

Uh...I knew I should have traded my soul for amazing lawyer abilities when I was offered them...

I submit that I cannot.
I throw myself on the mercy of the court.
While secretly readying my bomb to go off.
16 thousand? Not 16 hundred but 16 thousand? Does anyone here have more posts than you?

I've coined a few phrases that are used as inside jokes amongst my circle of friends but I generally don't go out of my way to do so. My speech patterns and vocabulary vary by situation. I can sound businesslike and intellectual on cue thanks to my grasp of the English language but I'm generally a random person, especially on the Interblag. Don't believe me? Read through some of my previous posts; my style with words is as malleable as Silly Putty at room temperature.

I don't "try" to get quoted, nor have I ever.
I just say whatever I think about the topic at hand, maybe reply to a few people whose posts caught my interest, and let things go from there.

When I'm not quoting Max I'm quoting about Max. What does that do for your observations.

And your post blew my mind.
It just proves that people like Max or hate him. I hope it's more of the former. It would suck if people hated you.

I've been on the site for awhile and it seems like unless you quote somebody no one will really have a conversation with you.

It seems like most threads end up being just a list of people's thoughts instead of a discussion.

So what do you think?

Do you ever add to what you say to try and get quoted?
Well. Are YOU trying to get quoted?

[small]I think it's working.[/small]
I reckon. See, this is now a three people conversation =D

EDIT: The Kurtz thing is a reference to Joseph Conrad's Heart of Darkness (or Coppola's Apocalypse Now)
I like to think I don't say things just to get quoted but it pleases me when it does happen, if nothing else because it proves that I've at least generated discussion.

And without quoting someone, it's hard for them to know that your post is following up on their point and trying to offer another perspective. Especially here in Off-Topic where threads can pop up every 10 seconds and posts at about 20x that rate.

Well for starters I say things or I don't.... I don't try to say things lol.

But getting quoted is nice. I'll always give a quick glance to the top right of the page whenever a page loads... Does anyone else not love seeing that little (1) in the corner? My record is (9) after one hour... But I usually quote people to get their attention so as to start a conversation with them. Or because I felt the need to directly respond to their post.

Sometimes I'll write something and expect to get quoted on it, but I don't write things to get quoted...

I don't aim to get quoted. Though it does make me feel special when I do.
