Well R.U.S.E is a RTS game released today in the USA, and comes out over the next few days in Australia and the UK, and when looking through these forums, I haven't seen anything about it. I myself think its a really good game and will be getting it when it is released in the UK instead of Halo: Reach.

What are your thought on the game and its genre? And why is no one else mentioned it yet? (although my guess is all of those Duke Nukem Forever threads that I now see every day).

I wasn't going to get it because I'm not a big RTS fan...

I played the Steam beta, and it was pretty fun, but it only had a few levels, and unlike other RTS's, there's not a huge difference in the factions. If the price goes down I might try it again.

I played the beta and it was good, but not special enough to warrant buying it.

I've yet to play it but it looks like it will be pretty fun ;) Reminds me of World in Conflict a bit. I'm saving up for Mass Effect 2 still though =( And Starcraft 2. And Mafia 2. And by the time I've bought them DNF might be out.

So I'd be buying that too. Sorry RUSE, but games are too expensive these days for me to buy you =(

The game looks interesting to me so I'll download the demo later on and check it out. If I like the demo that much, I may even have to buy it.

Looks ok. Some friends are more intrested then I am. Will most likely get it to just play with them. I do like how it looks to focus on tactics then on how well you control your units in the battles.

I played the beta that was on Steam some time ago and wasn't really that amazed by the gameplay. It has it's fun moment and a few interesting ideas mainly around the use of those ruses, but the core mechanics are just way too simplistic and way too spam oriented for my taste. Yet another rock paper scissors RTS where you have to pump out as much of certain unit types to counter enemy force.

Normally, given I'm a massive RTS fan (and am glad that Ubisoft aren't using their crappy DRM for this particular game), I would be getting this. I'd wait a while for the price to come down, but I would get it.

Sadly however, it won't run on my system. I have a laptop for university, and although I can play pre-2008 games perfectly fine on it, anything after that is too fast for my graphics card to cope. Everything else is fine, I just have a really slow graphics card. I tried to play the R.U.S.E. beta through Steam and it was massively lag-worthy, to the point even the introduction video with the developers talking about the game ran slowly for me. But as a student, without a career or anything, I literally cannot afford to upgrade my system, and a desktop isn't viable for me considering I change residences fairly often (pretty much once a year due to being at university away from home...) and need something portable for carrying to the library...

So yeah, long story short, I want to get it, but I won't be.

The "World War" thing has been overused. I'm done buying games related to it, whatever genre they are.

I played the demo and I immeadietly fell in love with it. RUSE is a return to an older style of RTS as more and more modern RTS's are dumping the whole base-building resource gathering part of the genre so that it appeals to less patient gamers.
There doesn't appear to be anything hugely inovative about it (appart from the deception side, which wasn't really touched on in the demo), but I don't care. It has an element of base building and resource gathering, but its not a major aspect like in Red Alert 1 + 2. However, there are still opportunities for grand tank battles or small tactical exchanges. A couple of well placed infantry units can take out an enemy light armour column.

I've been dissapointed with the RTS genre recently, the RUSE demo feels like a return to old form for me. So I've already pre-ordered it for its release in the UK on Friday :D
