Poll: raicst humour?

so i was wondering today after a friend told me a bit of a racist joke (so sue me i found it funny) (it doesn't translate very well over the net though) and i was wondering, what is the escapist's stance on this, are you alright with this kind of humour or do you find it reprehensible?

Some can be funny because... well, because they just are funny. But only if people telling them dont actually belive it.

I guess they're funny in an ironic way, although the jokes are funny, theyre also poking fun at racists themselves who actually belive that kind of stuff

There's a rule of thumb about comedy which is if you cannot joke about everything then you cannot joke about anything... essentially what this means is that no one topic should be considered immune.

However, the burden of whether or not it is funny falls entirely on the audience and as proven by Roy Chubby Brown even the most hateful of humour has an audience. Personally I wouldn't enjoy or condone hate filled comedy.

Yet, in the same vein a lot of Chris Rock's comedy can be considered racist but goes down very well with people of all races, the main reason in my opinion is it's not hateful.

It depends on the context of the joke, if its intended to be malicious then fuck the person can burn for all i care but if its just a piss take then go for it.

I think they are perfectly fine, they are almost never intended in a hurtful way, and they are of course said because they are to make someone laugh etc. If chris rock can say racist jokes in front of millions and no one has a problem with it, then I should be able to make jokes to my friends if they find them funny.

Racism is a double edged sword.

Censorship of any kind is bad mkay.

Not "mkay", certain things should be censored and restricted.

I don't think "crime watch" should start re-enacting rape cases.

On topic, as previously stated, it depends on the intent, for nothing more than a laugh - it's ok.

... I apologise -__- I heard that joke on TV a while ago and it made me laugh. It's not meant to be offensive at all.
In fact the guy saying it was a Jew himself xD

But yeah, as long as it's not malicious I don't think its that offensive... Although there is a line O.O
