I'm pretty sure it got sold (or is going to be) to Global Gaming Factory X AB, some Swedish software company.

According to the Pirate Bay, "no personal data will be transferred in the eventual sale (since no personal data is kept)".

But I'm paranoid and cynical, so I'm not going to start anything w/ 'em. I'll leave that crap for my brother.

I think maybe a remake could be left up to the community. It's not that I think it's a bad idea, it's just that new games take too long to come out as it is, and It's probably best to minimise the developer's distractions, and focus on pestering them about their next elder scrolls game.

All of Tamriel! That would be amazing, nipping down Somerset Isle to steal High Elf cutlery, slogging up to High Rock to stomp on a Bretons magika filled face before fast traveling to Black Marsh for a swim.

TBH i doubt it's technically possible. But we can but live in hope, they've built up so much lore, history and back story about the other provinces that its got to be leading somewhere.

And there was nothing more depressing than standing at Dive Rock looking out over Skyrim, only to be greeted by "you cannot go that way, turn back!" if you tried to see how the Nord's liked a phat piece of Umbra to the face after you stole their bottle of mead.

I was hoping the would make more tamriel provinces for Oblivion instead of shivering isles, but hey ho.
I do believe it would go something like *nom*hard-drive gone *nom* RAM digested *nom*. and overhaul mods for all of tamriel? yikes. I'd still buy it, though.

I think they are snapshots of the past state of videogames, and Bethesda should concentrate on pushing the series forward rather than looking to resurrect the past.

A rainy-day project perhaps...

I'd be willing to make that sacrifice

The reason I couldn't play Morrowind was because my eyeballs exploded at the sight of the graphics.
...They're not that bad at all, I still play it, and I can't stand bad graphics.

If you want bad graphics, play the previous game, daggerfall.

It makes Morrowind look awesome :D
That makes morrowind look like Super mega hyper HD... Are there any mods for morrowind to up the graphics a bit? I keep hearing constant praise for the game but can't play it due to being spoiled by modern graphics.

I'd rather see a brand new game than a remake of an old one. But if they did remake Morrowind, I hope they keep everything, except for the god awful combat system.

Yeah, sure, why not!

I never played any of the other one's except Oblivion and I loved it. So if they made the other one's using Oblivion's engine. Then It would probably be good

That would be really cool and i hope they do that for one of their new ES games. The only downside is it would be their last game because then they would just start becoming one of those "hang on the glory days" companies that remake old games and ruin them. Welll, maybe they could just keep updating it to make it current.

Make no mistake I do want this, just has to be last. :)

It would be awesome if they stuck to a scripting language, switched over graphics, and at the end of the ride when every region is finished put it it one gigantic game so those who came in later will get it for the first three/four games and those who came in in the beginning will get it for sheer awesomeness and nostalgia.

THAT would be awesome :p
so true. I never played arena or daggerfall, but my older cousin who has played them still sings their praises.

Honestly, from a story standpoint, there isn't much else they can do by just stick to the "province by Province" game meathod. TES V should be one for the entire continent.

Last news I heard from the Bethsoft camp was (and I quote)- "Don't hold your breath".

Being as FO: New Vegas is likely to be coming out before TES:V, we can be relatively sure that an inside guess of around 2012 is feasible.

Add to this the fact that there are 9 provinces of Tamriel, and the likelihood that Bethsoft will attempt to extend the franchise as long as possible, I would suggest that TES:X will arrive before we begin re-visiting old territory. Beth will not sell themselves short by releasing everything when they can still get away with releasing one province at a time.

In short- whilst it may well be happening, without citation I'm skeptical. Maybe in 2036 or something, but certainly not for a while.

I'm in no way trying to put down the old elder scrolls games but if they can't be enjoyed as they are then they're not good enough games. With that being said, they're plenty good enough as it is for me.

Personally, I want to see a new game...you know something i haven't been playing already for 10 years. I can accept more of the same with tweaks as far as sports games and such go, reasonably speaking, but seriously, someone needs to invent a new genre, or something. Even radically re-defining an old genre. I want a better mousetrap dammit not just the same block of wood with a stronger spring.

What i would really like to see is a game without a number on the title (barring year numbers) showing that i've already had a similar experience before.

And if someone's going to take an old game and make it new...please take an example from Tecmo when they first remade Ninja Gaiden, that's a remake done right.

Arena's freeware; I doubt they'd remake a game they've already released for free. And the rumour-mill suggests that Daggerfall will be released as freeware when TES V is released. Thus your best hope for 'remakes' is the modding community once the source has been released.

I'd love for them to do my idea:

Expand and update the engine used in Oblivion, adding all the latest features seen in Fallout 3 as a massive patch. Also, they should re-do the levelling and experience system, making it balanced and more fun. That, and more RPG-ish, rather than arcade-style.

As an expansion pack (stand-alone, I guess), add one new region of Tamriel, and include the patch in the expansion pack. In the pack, it'd include loads of new quests, enemies, weapons, etc. Sort of a new game, really.

Keep adding expansion packs which include each and every area of Tamriel, and in each region, make a "main quest", similar to the one in Morrowind/Oblivion. Though, the quest would have to be massively less important than in both Morrowind and Oblivion (otherwise, it'd mess up the lore if a super-hero saved Tamriel 9/10 times).

Keep updating the engine so you can keep levelling up, and the enemies stay balanced. It'd be very hard to do, but could be done. Then eventually sell all of the games in a big pack.

But, considering they won't do something like that, I voted "yes", because I never played the older Elder Scrolls apart from Morrowind. I don't quite get how they'd do it, but I guess it'd be cool.
