i prefer 4 myself because for me there was more of a sense of helplessness because you fight solo. i wanna see a next gen title with claire redfield at least starring in it because shes the only character that isnt "next gen" yet in the series.
Yeah. I like 4, because it was a brand new shooting, moving, and camera system for the resident evil series. And then 5 came out and it was the same, except you had a partner you had to keep track of. .....and if it were a computer then you had a really dumb partner who wouldn't stop wasting your healing items to keep track of.
but it doesn't matter to me because i own the remake of 1 on gamecube, and it beats them all.

I'm not entirely sure on this one, because although Resident Evil 5 has cooperative play, 4 has both more player inventory space, and was much longer. I think my decision goes to RE5, but this is mainly due to the co-op, if RE4 had co-op, then the decision would be a lot easier.
Resident Evil 4 is a gift sent from the gods to me. Resident Evil 5 is just a good game sent from Capcom to everyone.
I have to say RE5 only because this game was the first and only game where me and my brother have done something together ( im 23 and my brother is 25) considering we are not that closed compared to most brothers and sisters that is why i choose RE5.
P.S but it is fun doing one shot head shot to people with the most powerful upgraded shotgun in RE4. Plus and the most imporant Leon in RE4 is SO HOT!

This is simply because it has Co-op, split screen, over live, through two consoles etc and it's real co-op vs to quote Yahtzee "a single player campaign with a second player hoovering up all the health and ammo". So it was a bit shorter and had less Ashly protection missions, but for two people to play? It's great and only made better by the mercenaries mode and the fact you can play co-op in this too WITH split screen making this the most played game of the month and possibly next for this house.
K well i've played the hell out of 4..and just finished 5 a week or so ago. And at first 5 didn't have me convinced nor did it live up to it's hype. I saw them at pretty much the same level if not 4 being somewhat better. HOWEVER after restarting 5 on veteran and teaming up with a friend the game is absolute madness. Completely different experience. It's not exactly survival horror mind you but you do have to respect the hordes and not take anything (or one) for granted or you will die within 5 minutes. SO in that sense i guess 5 is still pretty intense. They're the same but different. In the now though i'd have to swing towards re5 for all those reasons. Plus i don't think its possible for me to ever play 4 again.
I've had way more fun with 5 than 4. 4 Was good and all, but I only really played it through the once, then it sat collecting dust forever. Not so with Resi 5, which I haven't stopped playing yet and which I've played with friends on multiple occasions both doing the main game and mercs mode. The recently added versus mode has also kept me entertained for a good 8 hours so far.

Resi 5. I feel that it loks better and is more fun to play. once i completed resi 4 i never really felt any inclination to go back and replay it, unlike resi 5
