Poll: Red Ring?

Well I was playing Batman Arkum Aslym when I got up to go eat dinner. When I returned no more then ten minutes later, the TV screen was green, so I tried turning off my 360 and turning it back on, and the circle on the face plate was flashing red. Is this the red ring of death thing? What should I do? I've had this 360 since 360 first came out so I don't want to return it if I don't HAVE to

Quickly go count the rings and tell us which sections of the 4 Lights are turned on.

Yes, you got the RROD. Sorry to hear that. I'd hate to lose my Xbox or PS3 (again).

I haven't had the RROD, but my PS3 laser died. I had to send it in to s=Sony to fix it.

How many quadrants are red? If its all 4 the Av cable got unplugged (i think its called the AV cable, the multi-color one)

If its three, its the RROD.

EDIT: So you don't have the red ring of death then, that's good. You have four quadrants so you'll be fine.

I've (thankfully) never had that problem. If my xbox red ringed I'd be devastated. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go praise my xbox's machine spirit so it won't be angered and decide to red ring.

Then make sure the colored cables are hooked up to your TV and the other end to your 360.

I'm really paranoid about my 360 overheating, I never play it for more that 2 hours at a time.

if there flashing its not the RROD it probably just overheated give it a while and i suggest moving it to get more air in the fans

RROD is 3 solid ring and tells you its permanent damage from overheating

I think that just means your AV cable isn't detected, so it ain't Red Ring O' Death

I've had the problem. Three times. But at least I always got it fixed for free(even without having warranty) and a free month of gold live to boot. If you do have the RRoD, just go online and find the support contact and CALL THEM. You'll be able to negotiate a free deal.

Edit: And make sure you take out the game as soon as possible. RRoD could damage it. As in destroy it.

I've had it happen twice . . . Microsoft refused to fix it the second time, so I switched to PC and have been a loyal convert ever since.

As already stated, you have yet to experience the RRoD. You just need to check your Cables.

I remember when I first saw that, I was stricken with a combination of denial and hatred.

Luckily I was able to make it work (By sheer manic pressing and jiggling of the equipment) long enough to get the Disc out. Then we just waited for the replacement unit to arrive.

But you can fix it yourself, but if its still under warranty you should just send it in.
