Today made me cringe in my seat when I went home for lunch today...

I was sitting there with my Reservation Steak (Fried Bologna here on the reservation) Sandwich with mayo and cheese between two thin slices of some homemade honey wheat bread, watching AOTS (nothing was really on at the time) when I saw "The Loop" segment talking about Comcast, Verizon, AT&T, and other telecommunication companies were going to the FCC to REDEFINE BROADBAND.

Now, I know it was a repeat show and I didn't know how many people have already discussed this here already.

I live in a rural town called Cherokee, NC, nestled in the Great Smokey Mountains and I'm very, very fortunate to have DSL. I've been living here all my life, and for 10 painstaking years, I've tried to get DSL from Verizon. DSL has only been here for 4 years, I feel so behind everyone else. I've really had enough of it.

I'm tired of seeing companies like this, come out and get their own ways, to get the most money out of people. My worst fear is that the FCC will allow this, and Its very possible that they will.

I dunno, just annoyed at this and can't really think straight about this. What are your views on the situation?

Here is a good article on the subject.

I say no because they all ready have a tendency to abuse their position of power as the only really choices for fast ISP service. Since we have all ready seen that they cannot be trusted we should not give the ISP's anymore power over consumers.

I know how you feel, I live in a "tech whole" no cell phone service, and until a year and a half ago no internet other than *cringe* AOL and *cringe* HughesNet. My internet is already slower than they said it would be (they said 1MB/S I get 100KB/S), I was really pissed when I heard this.

I've been the Cherokee before. I went to a Big Boy restaurant there. That was the highlight of my 2 hours in NC.

On topic, T-mobile pisses me off, since They don't have a tower near where I live, so I have roaming charges.
