I was shocked to find very little on this debate, which is odd for the internet.
So I figured why not start it here! So who do YOU think would win in a fight to the death? Death battle rules apply.

If we're talking about just the characters, then probably Finn and Jake. They take down things way more threatening than Mordecai and Rigby on a daily basis just for fun.

About the shows, I'd say it's a tie for me. I like and dislike things about both shows. I really like Adventure Time, but the randomness behind the humor is starting to grate me a little. Regular Show, on the other hand, is pretty okay for the most part, but there are some characters I dislike a lot, which makes the show a bit difficult to enjoy.

Then again, I haven't seen that much of either show, so I really don't have that strong of an opinion yet.

I like both, the obvious winner is Gravity Falls!

OT: I'd say I prefer the storyline and characters of Adventure Time, though I think Regular Show is better if you just want to catch an episode every now and again

If we're talking about an actual fight between the characters then Finn and Jake would win hands-down. Finn is one of the most athletic people in Oo (is that spelled correctly?) and Jake can shape shift into practically anything. Mordo and Rigby on the other hand are incredibly lazy, and when an out-of-nowhere plot device comes around (which it always does) it's usually Skips or Pops who has to save them, and on the occasions that Mordeci (how's it spelled?) solves anything it's usually through appealing to an antagonist's emotions.
So yeah, I think a highly trained hero and his magic dog would quite easily defeat a couple of lazy janitors in a fight to the death.

Mordicai and Rigby would win. I mean come'on, they know the secrets of Death-Kwon-Do.

Well, maybe Finn could pull it off if he had the Ancient Physic Tandem War Elephant.

Fin and Jake, seriously this isn't even a fair fight :/
Just a reminder, Mordo and riggs are masters of Death Kwon Do. Plus the entire premise of RS is that freakishly outlandish scenarios two slacker 20 somethings. First day on the job, they open a black hole by tieing Rock, Paper, Scissors 100x. So you cant say they haven't leveled.

Neither, because both are protected by invulnerable plot armor.

That said, I absolutely adore both shows, but I like Adventure Time a bit more. Regular show is sometimes a bit too predictable and formulaic for my tastes. "Oh hey lets do this. Oh wow, now we better be careful because of [insert random weird thing thing here]. Oops we weren't! Now everything is crazzzzzzy! Ok now everything is back to normal; the end." Just... gah. But I still like the show.

I see absolutely no appeal in either of those characters, though I like Mordecai and Rigby, as well as Regular Show in general, better than Finn and Jake. I'm not prepared to argue counter-points or debate either of the shows themselves, though.

I think I'd have to say Mordecai and Rigby. I mean think about it - Finn and Jake are in a crazy setting and face dangerous things but they actively fight like regular people (not Jake) to get through them. The stuff Mordecai and Rigby go through though is like making it through a Bill & Ted movie every single episode. It's crazy on a cosmic level, which makes Finn and Jake's fights seem mundane.

Yeah in a straight on physical fist fight, Finn and Jake would win, but if it were a whole elaborate scenario with them meeting, Mordecai and Rigby would get out of it on top somehow.

Finn has a sword made of demon's blood. Demon's blood! And given that Finn's conflict resolution always involves punching or stabbing, I don't see how some crazy forest animals will stand up to him on the warpath. The only part that might undo him is his righteousness. Killing cute animals might be beneath him.

That's where Jake comes in to complete their duo. A shape-shifting dog would have fun eating a bird and chasing a raccoon.

I've seen a few episodes of Regular Show here and there and it just strikes me as a regular kids show. Sure there's maybe a joke every few episodes that will get a smirk out of me but apart from that I just don't find it that interesting for some reason. With Adventure Time I laugh constantly and it does a good job of sucking me in and making me feel something for the characters when it needs to be serious.

In a straight up fight though? Finn and Jake every time. Apart from the fact they battle monsters all the time, they also battle "super powered" Enemies like Ice King...I mean the other guys are like woodland animals...
