Poll: Religion and gaming

Odd thing to wonder perhaps, but I'm curiously. Personally, I'm an Pagan Atheist, odd sounding really but I just don't believe in a Deity or God. Just that your spell/prayer/chant/mantra/song is what empowers you or the other.

Anyway. Off subject. I'm just quite curious to see what the numbers come out too. Sorry if I couldn't get your religion on the poll. It only lets you have 8 options.

EDIT: Sorry, forgot to put this originally. Does your religion or lack of one ever change what games you buy? I know there where Christians who were very anti-Xenosaga/Xenogear cause of it's Biblical references.

And I listed Atheist, because while not being a religion it is at least the polite way to put it. Instead of saying something like "Believes nothing at all."

Why do you have Catholic and Christian as seperate religions? Catholicism is just a denomination of Christianity after all.

Exactly. I was hoping he'd discuss religion in games.

I like the religion aspect in games because it adds a bit of familiarity to it.
It's also a nice spice, because then the god(s) interfere and you feel a little more divinity in your character.

They're different. Mormons, catholics, and protestants (which are usually referred to as simply Christians) all believe very different things about the Bible. You would probably be insulting a Baptist (protestant) if you called him a catholic or a Mormon.

You are mostly correct, as the fundamentals of the belief systems are the same, but that is only because Catholicism and Mormonism are derivatives of Christianity. The specifics of the practice of the three religions are actually quite different, so most regard them separately.
