As people here know I am a MW2 lever pulling mouse, sure I ***** and complain but that Skinner box has me quite entrapped that it has become my standard FPS even with the problems. Yet this isn't about the glaring problems with MW2, but with all games... cheaters.
Thanks to the lack of dedicated servers though it has become far too easy for hackers to get away with cheating, to the point many don't bother hiding it. In one such game a person, proudly wearing a name tag that read 'Hax ON,' was pulling off the usual crap you would expect such as aim-botting through walls... weee. This of course led to the usual lamenting, something you shouldn't do because hackers are griefers and live for that stuff, and several face palming over how stupid people are.
One of the many response that made me face palm that day was the whole 'just report him.' Now I just face palmed at that one because in my experience reporting these people do not work outside of dedicated servers which have small, admin controlled, communities. MW2 is the worse for it, potentially millions on millions of partitions would be sent to some guy who never saw the 'hacking' in question and has no more evidence past 'he beat me at your game, ban him!'
I guess with all that pre-amble I have to ask: Does reporting hackers ever work for you guys?
If so, under what circumstances?
If not, same question?
PS: reporting on steam is even harder, all it takes is for them to change their nick name and it becomes hard to tell who was who in the crowd.
