Hey there Escapist (Again).

In response to my fail of a poll (the one this post is a REPOST to), I have made a new poll.

Instead of choosing a certain "series" like CoD or Battlefield, I have chosen something else.

What is your favorite under the radar/hidden gem that no one knows about FPS?

I'm looking into FPS's and I am seeing what is out there.

You know the drill, comment and chose your vote.

Any system or era is good, but i'm preferring PC titles, mainly for Steam, but anything is good..

Hope I redeemed myself.

{EDIT} In terms of 'under the radar', I mean if fact that they don't get much attention, like commercials, publicity, general knowledge from people other than gamers etc.

Like how CoD is known outside of gaming even by non gamers while Deus Ex is not very well known outside of gamers.

Well, from that list it would be Bioshock by a mile.

But I find your choices odd. Most of those games are well known.

I mean, come on, Deus Ex? Really?

The Syphon Filter series. Been a while since a good one came out but they were gold back in the PS1 days.

Seconded. If I've heard of a game, that means it's popular. I've heard of 5 of the 7.

Sigh, well that is all I can think of off the top of my head anyway.

Can't please everybody I guess, or I don't know very much.

Yep, I know most of these games so I'm not sure how under-the-radar they are. But Bioshock would be my choice (not the second one, mind you), followed closely by Deus-Ex.

The old CoDs are really good as well, they're pretty much ageless.

I've got to go with Borderlands.

It really needed more done with the guns, they didn't seem as craaaazy and silly as initially suggested, but it's still really fun and pretty funny generally.

Make a new poll/thread and put Doom in it.
Hmm, Doom is a good suggesting, except in the fact it already has a MOVIE (that sucked).

Still, people know it outside of gaming by the fail movie, so it is not very "under the radar".

Nice try though.

System Shock 2 would be my favourite.

Think BioShock meets Dead Space meets Amnesia: Dark Descent. Graphics were bad though, even back when it was new. It was released at the same sort of time as Deus Ex (another game with bad graphics even at the time of its release), which hurt it badly. Didn't do as well because there can only be one star child at a time; especially when you consider they were mechanically so similar. It also had much less media buzz about it compared to Deus Ex. Not taking away from Deus Ex of course; it's a great game too.

L-l-l-l-look at you hacker. A pathetic creature of meat and bone. - Awesomeness.

Saw a Syphon Filter mention, classic; although it is a TPS. Psi-Ops: Mindgate Conspiracy is another great TPS classic.

@ The OP. You won't please everyone with a poll, there are too many possible choices because some of us have been around longer than, I suspect, you have and many of us enjoy snobbing up.

That's no problem for you of course, hopefully you may try and pick up one or two of these games on the cheap and find one you like. If not, I wouldn't be all that surprised. These games are technically old and might not appeal to someone who began their FPS/TPS gaming with titles like Halo, GeoW, ME2 and CoD. *shrugs* Honestly couldn't tell you.

Good to know, I will look into these titles. And as for game reference, my first FPS was Timesplitter (I think) playing it at my cousins house on Gamecube when I was 7 (When my parents would not let me play those type of games). Ah, fond memories they were. Other than that, I'm new to the gaming world, born when the N64 was released and started gaming at the beginning of the Gamecube/PS2/Xbox era. Did not even get into Steam till around 3 years ago. Ah well, l will be able to recommend the shovel-ware that we get for our consoles to my grandchildren. :D

Just a suggestion, rename Call of Prypiat for STALKER : Call of Prypiat, many people know the game by the series name (CoP is the 3rd STALKER game)
