Republican = Conservative Values? My American politics isn't what you'd call honed, hell I forget what 'left-wing' and 'right-wing' mean a large amount of the time (like now, for example).

Anyway, I wouldn't judge. To each their own. Would it work against me? Most certainly, that would conflict with my own beliefs greatly. But by my own beliefs, I have no reason to condemn them for theirs.

I'm met with scepticism and confusion when I bring up Philosophical Anarchy, I imagine the other end of the spectrum gets the same reaction. Nothing wrong with it, whether or not I'd agree.

I'm extremely liberal, and growing more so with each new Republican attempt to destroy our country.

Because, see, I'm not one of the top 3% which are the only people the Republicans care about.

If someone told me they were in the Tea Party though, I would probably choose kill. Then marry Scarlett Johansson and bang Rihanna.

Not American, so it's not really relevant.

I think conservative politics are a bad thing, and that they keep the human race behind. Liberal politics always win in the end however, as a vast majority of intellectuals and "movers and shakers" are liberal, and those who are liberal now will become the conservative of the future. Then it all starts over.

This most likely gonna get me flamed but the political right to me has always seemed to be composed of selfish, greedy, uncompassionate folk who have little to no understanding of human nature.

Altruism is king
No man is an island
Success can be only be met in unison, not isolation.

EDIT= worth pointing out that I dont agree with the political left either.

If you had asked me this question 2 months ago I would have immediately jumped up and said I AM A REPUBLICAN. However now a days...

The problem with me is I dont want to be part of a group where our most popular members are hypocritical to the ideas that the party is supposed to represent. I'm leaning more towards just being an individual without any true party identification because of that. Politicians are a group of lying terrible people who twist words and play god. I never want to be one. (I still havent registered to vote even though its been over 6 months now since I turned 18.) I'm just to conflicted right now. However I will gladly debate with anyone who has half a mind and valid reason supporting their arguments.

They're not any better or worse than the other side.

They have a few ideas I agree with, and a bunch I don't. It's like that for a lot of people who don't see in red or blue, which is why we've not elected two different presidents from the same political party in a row since before I was born.

One comes in, fixes a few fuckups the other left and fucks a bunch of the other stuff up, the other side comes in and fixes a few fuckups the other left and fucks a bunch of other stuff up, rinse and repeat.

I have not been alive for a president who didn't cause a majority of the country to lose faith in his political party.

Ok first off I agree with your first statement, but not your second little 'haiku' if I can call it that.

True, pure unfiltered altruism will be the death of the individual, and I serve no king except the one which represents my ideals.

Every man is an island, a single soul can change the world. However true happiness can be found when men leave their islands to find others.

Success can only TRULY be found individually. Yes you can have your little armies who lead revolutions and claim that they found success through unison, but tell me, how many wars were started with the words think of yourself? Think of YOUR own needs, not theirs, not the poor beggers on the streets, but YOURS. And you will come to a simple conclusion, that ideal of unison that you praise, it leads to poverty, starvation and war. Because allthroughout history man has always fought in the name of a king, an emperor, a government... or even in the name of god. The only wars fought with the idea of thinking for yourself are wars of defending your nation from the servants of a king.

Two of my best friends are republican. We live by the rule that it's easier to keep our politics to ourselves. There are even some topics that we agree on (though, for VERY opposite reasons).

I wouldn't give a damn, for every paranoid fundamentalist tea party member that votes republican, there are a thousand normal people who do it because they believe in having a small government and low taxes. The sad thing is that there are too few politicians that aren't hypocritical liars.

I'm sorry if anyone takes offense but:

How many republicans does it take to screw in a lightbulb?
Three. One to hire a mexican to do it, and two more to deport him after he's done.

Again, no offense meant.
None taken, allow me to respond with another witty joke. :)

A taxpayer voting for a democrat is like a chicken voting for Colonel Sanders.

;) No offense meant.

No, Bill is a republican. I don't know where you get the idea that he is non-partisan...

(protip: if there's a Fox News logo located in the vicinity of a newscaster, then they are a Republican)
I'm sorry, I don't even know how to respond to such an ignorant statement. I guess you get a point for blowing my fucking mind.
Ok, maybe not all the newscasters are conservative; but any time the channel provides political commentary, it's a safe bet that its from a republican/conservate/right-wing viewpoint. O'Reilly, Beck, Hannity, Huckabee... the list goes on.

I'm biased, for sure, but..

Since the loud Republicans I ever see and hear are the ones who want kids to pray in school, pushes the Bible down the throat of everyone, hates gays, push down women, try to get the population with them against the slightest thing that criticise them, and tend to back up their statements with retarded and false (if not downright made-up) 'facts'..

..It surprises me that the sensible and reasonable Americans haven't either kicked them all off into the ocean, or, left the country for either Europe or Canada, and left the Republicans to breed in a cesspool of hatred, prayers and incest, and once they all wiped themselves out, move back and make America the glorious example it sets itself out to be.

Oh well, I can keep on dreaming.

(If you're Republican but actually have a -fair, justified reason- to be so, that isn't rooted in near-religious zeal, then take no offense.)

The republican party as of late is nothing short of a perverted joke. There is no central intelligence or creed, most of the Republican policies seem to be "Fuck anyone who disagrees with us." With their recent spending cuts specifically targeting NPR, family planning, and the EPA and their obscene anti-union laws, the Republicans can't even claim to be defending the Constitution anymore.

I am a conservative, and a Republican.

With that said, I believe in government staying out of our lives as much as possible, and less taxes.

I believe that if we, as a nation, are punched (so to speak), we should punch back ten times as hard, and knock the guilty party on their collective butts. Otherwise, we should keep to our own business.

I believe that the welfare system is a crutch that is slowly destroying our country, and it needs significant changes. I also believe our healthcare system needs to be fixed, but Obamacare is like trying to help someone with mental issues by giving them a lobotomy.

I agree with a previous poster, this is most DEFINITELY a left leaning crowd here on these forums, and thats their right. However, you dont see me constantly on here slamming their views and opinions, like I see my conservative beliefs getting trashed almost daily. At least I do come across a poster every now and then that I might debate with, and it stays civil, and interesting. I do enjoy those instances. :)

First off, shouldn't this be in R&P?

Second, I really do not care if you are a republican or not. Yes, you might hold many contrary views to me, but that does not mean we cannot be friends, or I consider you an imbecile/racist/homophobe/warmonger. Just so long as you are respectful of my views, I would not mind talking to you about them. That is my take in a nutshell.

I lean more left than right, but I don't understand how anyone can not take a stance of moderation when it comes to politics. Republican and Democratic extremism are both ridiculous in different ways. Each side has good points, now let's work together and compromise. Too bad that never happens.

i don't have any problem whatsoever with Republicans who are consistent in their views. i.e. saying they're in favor of small government, lower taxes, and greater personal freedoms. what drives me crazy is when people say they're against big government, but then fight to keep gay marriage (and other consensual bedroom issues) illegal. newsflash: smaller government=less government interference in people's lives.

of course, the same applies to Democrats.

Republicans: A few smart, educated people who may or may not be right in their opinions, and a whole fuckton on uneducated, bible-thumping racists.
At least that's what it looks like from over the pond.
