If you remember and appreciate Resident Evil as I do, then you fell in love with the original plot, characters, and monsters; it was all unique and engrossing. The reworking of the original Resident Evil on GameCube was fantastic, as it truly revitalized a classic in the survival horror series, integrating new areas and improved graphics. Its job was to scare, to evoke anxiety and fear, and it did just that.

After the release of Resident Evil 4 and 5, it is apparent that Capcom's prospects for the game have changed. These are solid and fun games, but they appeal to a different audience and are becoming clones of hardcore games, such as Gears of War, in an attempt to modernize. I understand that video games should change along with time and technology, but it seems that Resident Evil has changed so drastically in terms of gameplay and story that it is no longer Resident Evil.

In what direction would you like to see the Resident Evil series proceed? How should the plot and characters evolve the next time around? Should there be a return to zombies and its previous gameplay style? Should it focus on the scares, thrills, and terror, or on the action? Perhaps the series should die off, or maybe it's already dead?

They should remake the first 3 games in the style of number 4, combine the best of both worlds. I'd love to revisit the mansion and Raccoon City in a less clunky, better looking package.

Have to agree with darwins folly. Playing the 1st president weevil in the style of of number 4 would be cool. The ending of number 5 kinda put me off the series alot though :(

Yeah, that could be pretty cool... I can agree with that darwins folly. I definitely enjoyed 4 more than I did 5. The ending of 5 was pretty lame. I think seeing the first few from a different perspective would be interesting.
