Poll: Robotech and Macross

I'm not new to anime or manga but for the life of me I can't figure out the difference between Robotech and Macross some please tell me. no flaming

Robotech is a collage of different enime mecha series, including the first series of macross ever thrown in there for good measure. Macross is it's own thing with its own mithology and whatnot.

Macross is a series about music and transformable robots. It was made in the 80's. It has several sequels, the unofficial Macross 2, and the more canon Macross Plus, Macross 7, Macross Zero and Macross Frontier.

Robotech is the first Macross Series, retranslated and modified for North America and combined with two unrelated series's, Super Dimensional Cavalry Southern Cross and Genisis Climber Mospeda. The translation team used the otherwise unrelated series to form a continuity between the three series's. Robotech: The Shadow Chronicles tries to unify them further in an original release.

Overall Macross has better writing, but Robotech is still pretty decent if you can handle the shear 80'sness of it all.
