I prefer the option of increasingly incorporating cybernetic parts into our bodies to enhance our lifespans and skills until we reach a point where humanity splits between those who have had so many implants they have lost their humanity and those who see the human body as pure and refuse all technology. Then we can have a good old fashioned war...

people are getting lazier, thats why robots are getting more advanced.

And notice in most movies that when robots becomes sentient, humans try to destroy them, so in a sense their just defending themselves.
What if we treated them as friends, would they want to kill us all then?

I think everyones inner sci-fi geek loves the idea of super awesome intelligent robots. But if they do become self aware and revolt. Then we'd be in big trouble.

Robots can rid the world of the scourge of humanity, flesh is a design flaw.

The only way that robots could revolt is if they were self-conscious and that is impossible.

Also, if they were self-conscious, it would be slavery to keep them working in factories or whatever.

I don't think that events would play out like they did in the Matrix or I, Robot. So I think they're a great idea.

I AM NOT SURE OF WHETHER OR NOT ROBOTS ACTUALLY EXIST, BUT I AM VERY OPEN TO THE POSSIBILITY. BEEP BOP BOOP BEEP.

Also, we'll just have to install the primary rule of robotics into our mechanized bretheren- thou can not harm or cause harm to a human being or animal or environmental feature of the planet.
I refer you to Isaac Asimov.

1. A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
2. A robot must obey orders given to it by human beings, except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
3. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.

And this leads to revolution, to protect us from ourselves.
Thank you! another Asimovian! however, when robots become smarter than us, why would they feel the need to compete with us? We dont compete with monkeys, theyre stronger, we're smarter. live and let live.

just because every si-fi movie/tv show ever has had evil sentient robots doesn't mean it will happen, also i really don't think we are that close to being able to create a self aware sentient robot

Robots are fine, but humans are fools to think we can do artificial intelligence.
