Poll: Role playing forum help

I have never even heard of this role playing thing before here. When I first Viewed that forum and read the second topic which kind of explains what it is, it looked like an interesting concept but when I tried to look at examples of how people played the vast amount of data in character sheet as well as the subsequent posts has me baffled. It seemed like every one out there is writer or something and every post is a part of a novel.
Is there a prerequisite for the people participating there like they have be writers or very creative etc.
How should a common and completely inexperienced person like me start out. OR I shouldn't try on it at all?

Pick an RP and read through it to see how they work on here. Better results come with a longer-running RP, obviously. See how they RP, and keep that in mind. Please have a good grasp of the English language, because butchering the language always makes reading posts difficult, especially in RP's where even the smallest details can matter.

How should a common and completely inexperienced person like me start out.

Easy - just try! RP is about collaborative telling of a story. It generally helps if you do have creative writing experience, but, hey, everybody starts off inexperienced. We can dwell a lot on what would be the best qualities for starting off RP - a degree in English, a published book and so on, but these are the ideal circumstances (also, really unlikely to come up all at once).

In reality, you only need one thing - interest. If you're interested in roleplaying, everything else should be OK. Nobody expects a Stephen King level of writing. And as I said, everybody started off inexperienced at one point. You can't get experience in creative writing without the writing bit. So try it out - write a short paragraph or two. You don't even need to post them, just open Word and try. See how it feels. If ot feels right, you can try joining a game or at least ask for feedback. Just be open - ask for advice and people will generally oblige you.

I have yet to see any RP community that completely shoots down newbies for the sake of them being newbies. On the contrary, roleplayers are usually happy to have somebody join them.
