Alright, time for me to open up on a subject in mass detail. For those of you that roleplay in any sort, what "form" of roleplaying do you deal with the most, or what which is your most favored? I'm not going to include a poll because there are probably some I'm not aware of, or don't understand completely.

In my experiences thus far, I'm becoming more fond of MUD(Multi-User Dungeons) and Tabletop RPGs. They feel like the perfect level of restriction on a player to keep us just in line for the gameplay and story to work, but enough freedom to allow us to not feel restricted.

I really like tabletop RPGs. A shame I don't play them as much as I'd like (hard to find a group mainly). So I've tried my hand at Play by Post and it's not bad, I like that too. It has it's drawbacks, though :/ I've thought about using a multiplayer video game, say VtM: Redemption or Neverwinter Nights (no - no MMOs) but ultimately I decided against it for variety of reasons. One of which was not playing with people I know.

I mainly do play-by-post on forums because I like the writing aspect and I often play characters who don't have much of a combat aspect, so many of your typical systems don't really work for me.

In high school I used to role play in forums all the time. It improved my writing skills and gave me a foot up when I started playing table-top a few years later. I play tons of of table-top now, but haven't done any forum role playing in a really long time.

I'm heading over to a friend's house this evening to play some tabletop, actually.
It's a homebrew game that a friend of mine recently came up with.

Homebrews are fun, but every time I make one the system's combat takes forever. Defense OP.

HA! If I ever need a quick system for something, I think I'll just use the BEER engine from Kobolds Ate My Baby and Ninja Burger. Actually I like the Ninja Burger variant better - the SAKE engine. The difference is the names of the attributes (and hence the acronym). Here's how it works:

You have four stats: Strength (self explanatory), Agility (self explanatory), Ki (mental and magical stuff), Extraneous (everything else). Roll 3d6 for each stat and if the character needs to do something, they try to roll d6s below the relevant stat. Difficulty determines how many dice they roll - harder is more dice.

Yeah I have heard about a lot of cool systems like that. I remember talking to a friend about how fun a TES system would be... it be a d100 system :p

Well I used to do Forum post by post base roleplaying during my game drought period. Even then I tend to leave the said roleplay if everyone starting to make long and descriptive post making it for me hard to follow making me put off to continue (I like it to be somewhat plain and easy to follow or at least not complicated).

The combat did take some time, but I'm assuming that's because we'd never played it before.
Trying to judge the combat system objectively, it should be pretty streamlined, but we were fooling around a good bit trying to figure things out.
