At least Saints Row 2 is fun...
ya ill give credit to saints row 2 there. but it was completly unorignal.

the story of revivng a gang back to greatness

GTA did it

the ablity to drive helis, cars, motorcycles, boats, and planes

GTA did it (and they even let you drive a tank)

hell the develpors barly changed the map of stillwater. besides adding in a couple of buildings and islands.

It's a matter of taste really. Do you want a very realistic world were you can do lots of diffirent and mostly useless things, or do you want a brightly colored and unrealistic but infcredibly fun gameworld.

In other terms pick what you like most.

You do realize that you're talking out of your butt right
and you relaize that your an idiot right.
Oh god it keeps happening.

But in all fairness you should rent each game and determine which one you like, then buy it.
im not fanboyish. i just dont enjoy watching stuff get popular by copying other things.

im not talking copying like how call of duy copied halos regenatable (proably spelt that wrong) health. im talking about how saints row copied GTA from head to toe. personally im not that big a fan of either series but if i had to choose i would choose GTA.

I'd say either GTA:Vice City, GTA:San Andreas, or Saint's Row 2. I'd recommend the last one for sheer gaming fun.
GTA III, GTA IV and Saint's Row 1 weren't as fun to me.

If the choice is between GTA IV and Saint's Row 2, decide if you'd rather want a somewhat realistic - well written - crime drama with a third act taken straight out of "Sopranos" and several annoying friends who call you for socializing...or mega-action with a somewhat mean streak and friends that YOU call when you need backup.
Both have lots of side activities, but I didn't have any fun while plodding through the ones in GTAIV and heaps of fun when blasting through the ones in SR2. And in the former you're stuck with Niko Bellic and about ten different pieces of clothing. The character customisation in Saint's Row 2 is darn near limitless, down to choosing model and color of the exhaust pipes or wheel spinners on your car. And the game is all the richer for it, when it by all reason should detract from the playing experience. Impressive.

Oh, and the police are almost impossible to lose in GTA IV. It's a breeze in SR2.
Just another thing to consider!:)

Oh really, i have the collectors edition of GTA IV for the 360 (and every GTA except for the sony exclusive ones, i even have the London expansion pack for GTA 1) and i didn't see these features in any of them.

So what exactly did Saints Row steal from GTA? I can find more features of Scarface than GTA in SR and SR2.

I'm an avid GTA fan, always have been, and i approve SR, which i've also become a fan of so you can't say i'm biassed.

Saints Row 2 in my opinion. Might be a knock-off of GTA, but theres one important thing that i like about it more that GTA IV:

"Eees your cazan!"

Don't have your friends calling you every ten minutes or so and asking you to take them out on a date. GTA 4 is more realistic, but Saints Row 2 is a lot more fun.

I think GTA is the better game - sure its lost a bit of its overall zaniness, but the tale i tells is compelling and the characters are interesting, more than I can say for Saints Row .

You mean they set the sequal in the same city a few years down the line and they only changed the city in a believable fashion consistent for the story line? The lazy bastards, they should have started from scratch.

I would buy SR2, I have bought played completed every GTA game apart from 4 which was a complete pile of brown.

SR2 is a very different game, sure the story is generic and the graphics arnt as "realistic", but there is so much more to do and its all much more enjoyable.

I gave up on GTA4 towards the end as, in my opinion, the story is very bland and generic, the characters are annoying, the driving is attrosious, the minigames are dull and the buddy system is horrible, I hate the way they ring you every 5 minutes begging to do stuff.

Oh and Niko is the most hatefull main character I have ever had the dubious honour of playing as.

And before any one points out how wrong I am, no I'm not this is subjective, its my opinion therefore valid and correct.
