I've noticed recently that most of my friends, if not all of my friends, tend to finish games fast. The game of choice right now is Black Ops. I like to take my time with my games, doing everything I possibly can, and making the game last as long as I can. I'm close to finishing Black Ops, and I really want to, but then once it's over, it's over, and it'll never be that exciting again. I try to prolong the suspense as long as I can. So how do you Escapists play your games?

TL;DR: Do you rush through games, finishing them as fast as possible, or take your time, "savoring" the game, so to speak?

Also, if you're going to include spoilers, put them in a spoiler tag, and LABEL the spoiler tag (which game you're spoiling). I had a small part of Black Ops ruined for me because I opened a spoiler that I didn't know was for Black Ops.

I never rush through a game. I try to find as much of the collectibles as I can and see everything that's there to be seen and experienced. I just payed $60 for this game, why would I want to rush through it and throw it on the shelf?

My thoughts exactly. Especially if there's no multi-player.

Hmm not really. If I enjoy the story then I'll play through it as fast as I can just to what happens next. Once it's over I'll just get another game and do it again. There are that many decent games out there that I don't need to savour them.

I am more of a medium pace type really. If I screw around to much I get bored. To fast and I get annoyed the game was too short

I don't try to savour them, but I do take my time with shorter games and enjoy them more. I feel like I'm rushing when I play Fallout: New Vegas because there's so much stuff to do. I will never see half of the things there because I just can't spend that much time on one game when I have so many others from the Steam sale.

Sadly, with my favorite genre, JRPGs, I tend to rush through, mostly becasue my fear of difficult side-questing still exists from my childhood.

Kind of half and half. For example, I tend to do as many side quests and whatnot as possible so I can know as much of the story as I can. On the other hand, I don't bother with 100% completion aspects like collectibles and hidden tokens because they don't add anything to the story for me.

It all depends on how long the story is. If it's like KotOR, then it can be 10-50 hours. If it's like The Force Unleashed II... it's 5. Ish.

It's my new year resolution to play all the games I buy, so rather than play one game while thinking about another, I'm making a concerted effort to enjoy one game at a time. If that means playing a few on easy to get through it, then sadly, that's what I'll have to do.
