It's pretty lame, especially when you found a killer hiding spot. It's one of the biggest flaws with split-screen gaming. That's why sometimes I prefer online to split-screen.

Ever since Goldeneye 007, the 2 things that count as cheating are screenwatching and Oddjob.

I don't really mind it all that much so long as the person isn't a complete dick about it. One of my mates sits back and accuses us of looking at his screen all the time on MW2, so I decided to run a little test to see if he's being a hypocritical little *****. I know he's in a room firing out the window, so I run up to the door while watching his screen. In the middle of a firefight he turns around and opens fire before I walk through the door and into his line of sight. He is also the person that turns around when you're following them to stab them in the back. It's extremely funny when he tries to tell me that he was checking behind him, only to shut up after I mention how it was strange that checking behind him involved opening fire halfway through his turn before he could even see me.

Well, it is quite impossible to exlcude parts of a spilt-screen play from one's vision, so nothing is wrong with it.
You can't help it. In real life, you would use everything availabe.
That is like having a spy in the enemy headquarters, but ignoring all the information they gather because it is 'unfair and cheating'.

And why would you have a spy in the enemy headquarters in the first place? You cheater!

I'm a PC player so it's quite easy for me to miss this one of course, I still have the problem of telling people where I am on teamspeak. But that was on MW1, I don't even own this game.... yet.

Yeah its a little annoying at time. Like when I have crosshairs on my brother's head only to see him jump out of the way. But playing on consoles/pcs close enough together to see each other's screens means you can get up and beat the crap out of them anyway.
Also, it seems many companies (I'm looking at you, Infinity Ward) are trying to knock out splitscreen/lan stuff anyway. Maybe it will be a non-issue before long.

Screen blagging gets on my nerves. I don't have XBL so only play splitscreen, and it can get bloody annoying. Especially on hardcore mode on COD games, as the lack of HUD makes you screenblag uninentionally quite a lot.

Makes it more satisfying to kill someone who's doing it though

Okay so I've been playing MW2 all night in my house with my buddies. Yet somehow, one of my friends knows exactly when your behind him or above or whatever. This really posses me off beacause I consider it cheating. But what do you, widened sages of the escapist think of screen watching?

I really don't care about screen-watching. If someone's doing it, I just don't go after them much, then they forget about me and I'll smoke 'em later.

I believe the official term for it is "Situational Awareness".

If you are playing on the same screen, screen watching of some degree is nearly impossible to avoid and utterly silly to attempt. If you are playing on seperate screens then I might take issue with people turning to look at my screen.

Your options are too extreme! I don't ever yell screen watchers but I still think it's cheap and sleazy and anyone who does CANNOT take pride in their success if they screen watch.

for me, majority of the timew, i find it alright. but it becomes hard not to notice if the person playing next to me is trying to get me from behind. no pun intended

I grew up playing PC games or single player console games, me looking at everything on the screen is inevitable.
