Poll: Shambling, running or stabbing?

I was wondering, with so many loose types of "zombie" these days, which one do you find scariest? I picked three types which I feel represent modern zombies well without having around a hundred poll options which are:

The "romero"

Classic slow zombies. They are the only truly "dead" type here, all their body functions have shut down, removing their need for blood, or any of their organs, besides the brain, meaning the only way to kill them is to destroy the brain, or remove the head (though, technically, the head would still be alive, but at least it's immobile). Infection varies according to the location of the bite, but the shortest infection time is around five minutes from a neck bite.

The infected

These are the guys from 28 days later, here to represent the fast infected of L4D, the dawn of the dead remake, so on. They are literally infected with rage, meaning as soon as they are infected, they become locked into a permanent state of homicidal anger, attacking anyone who crosses their path. They may also have a preference to attacking those they formerly knew, but this is arguable. Aside from biting, they also infect by vomiting blood. If a drop of blood or saliva enters a human body, that human will become infected wthin 30-60 seconds, unless they have an extremely rare immunity to it. The upside of this zombie is that they are just as fragile as human beings, with maybe only a higher pain threshold due to the sheer andrenaline of their enraged state.

"plagas"

The enemies from resident evil 4 who I have put in here to provide a respresentative for "smart" zombies, capable of using weapons, and more focused on killing than infecting, such as the deadites from evil dead. These zombies have been infected with a rare parasite. The infection period varies, but around two days is a safe bet. Once infected, they can become subject to the host of a "leader" plagas' will, but otherwise, are mostly homicidal to those not infected. Infection is usually achieved through breathing in plagas spores (like the first victims of the RE4 outbreak) or through kidnapping victims and actively implanting the plagas inside them. Some victims sprout mutations from their heads, such as a giant worm-like mutation, or a spider-like form with the ability to detach itself from the host. Other forms, such as el gigante, can be achieved through specific methods of implanting the plagas. The victims display an immunity to physical damage, but are very much mortal, with no specific method of killing them.

So, what do you find scariest? Personally, I find the classic ones most disturbing, due to the ability to take incredible amounts of damage to the body but still being alive.

Before you ask, yes, I'm a huge zombie nerd, what of it? XD

RE4 were the worst. They could use weapons and turn into monsters.

The slow, shambling Romero zombies are more sinister and creepy.

The 28 Days/L4D infected are scarier, as they represent human anger at its most instinctual level. It's an everyday thing for individuals to reach that kind of anger, the results aren't good.

Infected. When I picture infected, I don't really think 28 days, I think, L4D. I feel I could survive, or at least survive a long time with a zombie outbreak of the other 2. But when I picture myself in a L4D situation.....I think I would be fucked =P

Killing Floor style zombies, some of which have rocket launchers.

Yes, you read that right.
I remember once on the Timesplitters Future Perfect mapmaker where a friend & I made a map which was populated with zombie NPCs all armed with heatseekers. Now you've reminded me of it, I'm going to go do more of that right now.

OT: Certainly the Romeros. Bearing in mind that unless they're killed they will literally just hang around forever once they've killed everyone. Human survivors need sleep, food, etc, these guys don't, they just keep coming. Implacable, relentless, I could go on for ever.

There was something satisfying with headshotting romero zombies.. then you get to RE4 where shooting their head off only makes matters worse...

Romeros the best, plagas the scariest.

Favorite would be the classic zombies, but 28 showed how something which could take a shotgun to the head could be more dangerous.

Plagas are alright, never saw the appeal in them...

My favourite is the 28 Days Later zombies. It's scary as hell since they're running at you, likely faster than you can run, however it's not well...It's just better than the Resident Evil 4 zombies. It's hard to define why, but I just prefer the 28 Days Later zombie in terms of being scary.

The scariest would be the infected. They pose the most challenge for me, especially when the come in groups.

The Infected. The only thing worse than a zombie, is a zombie who can run. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go hide.

The most dangerous out of the lot are arguably the Plagas. Mainly because they are intelligent and wield guns, axes and knifes. The scariest are the runners because they sprint extremely fast and they will eat you alive as opposed to shooting you. My favourite though are the classic shuffling zombies. Though they are pretty useless, you can run circles round them and just push them over. the death of most characters in the (shuffle) zombie movies is often caused by the fact that they are stupid.

Infected - if you can outrun something, it's not very scary.
Yeah, but you can't run forever.

I always found the 'swarm' aspect of Romeros zombies to be rather creepy. That and the fact that they only die by a headshot, something pretty hard to make when you're looking at a rotting corpse groaning and lashing at you.

I find the fast, running zombies to be the scariest.
I'm sure if anyone saw hundreds of zombies run at the, they'd be scared shitless.

My favourite is still and will always be the Romero zombies though.

The "Max Brooks" Zombie I think is the best...

It's the most logical kind of zombie. If a Zombie can run then it could jump, if it could jump then maybe it could think.

Either the Flood or the Resident Evil zombies. The Flood because those furkers can run FAST jump HIGH and FAR, and they're strong enough to rip through people. Those tentacle things that come off their fists? There's a hunk of bone in the end to make it quite an effective whip.

The RE zombies because they get furking HUGE.

Indeed, to be killed by a zombie is bad, but to know it was pretty much your fault is even worse. XD

For me its the infected.
I don't really find the plagas scary because they are just so unlikely to actually happen. Once of the scariest things about the infected or romeros zombies is the fact that it could happen.

I think i would prefer to face romeros zombies because they are slow and stupid. You can get away by walking briskly (as long as you don't walk into a large swarm) but infected which could almost definitely run faster than me are far more scary.
