I have to use both, otherwise the amount of split ends I get could tern into a bizarre afro.

EDIT
Shampoo is better; I go on first and clean the hair! Conditioner is better; I leave the hair silky and smooth! seriously we went this long without quoting this?

Yea, conditioner is intended to both moisturize and help lighten your hair. Mine gets really light and fluffy, THE LION'S MANE!

Shampoo then conditioner.
My hair feels like a tangled net without the conditioner. Then again, I have moderately long hair so I practically have to use it to keep it in check.

I will try to use conditioner, buuuuuuuut.

Don't usually have time to when I am waking up at 5am, to get to work by 5:30am, or maybe cut it close if I do use it and have to be in at 6am.

So shampoo will usually just have to do for me now

I use Shampoo, Conditioner, a protein treatment and then treatment for my ends. I have long hair and I like to look after it to the best I can. When I no longer feel like doing that I'll just chop it. I've been told by hairdressers that it's very healthy.

Shampoo only cleans, you need the conditioner to condition it, the protein treatment helps my hair stay strong (lots of foils) and the other treatment help prevent split ends. You should at least be using the conditioner as well.

For best results, use shampoo and then conditioner.
Otherwise just use shampoo. Your hair will probably suffer, but it'll still be clean.

If you ask me, doing it any other way means you're an idiot. Especially if you use JUST water. That doesn't get anything actually clean.

Getting away from HOW to wash your hair;
Of course, having dreadlocks and some other hairstyles means that you absolutely must make sure not to get your hair wet to any significant degree, so there are a few exceptions to which not washing your hair is acceptable/required.

Also, you hardly have any hair to wash if you're bald now, do you?

I have really thick hair, so I have to use conditioner or else it gets dry/my scalp dries out.

My girlfriend makes fun of my suite-mates (who also use conditioner and whatnot) and I for being so girly, but apparently we're not the only guys doing it, eh?

Plus, nobody's complaining when I get a head rub because she likes how soft my hair is. :p

I've actually heard good things about only washing your hair with water. It gets out the dirt, dead skin, etc. while preserving the hair's natural balance of oils. At the start it gets oily because your hair is so used to being chemical-ed to death by shampoo, but after it adjusts the hair takes on its natural state (which is apparently often-times better looking than with shampoo/conditioner).

If that's true, that sounds pretty intriguing. I still probably wouldn't do it, though; I have long hair, and it feels really nasty when it starts getting greasy again.

I try to wash my hair every day, or every other day at least, otherwise I feel really dirty. I know it's not the best thing for hair, but I'll start scratching at my scalp and it'll start bleeding.
I use both shampoo and conditioner or I'd never get a brush through it. All of this keeps it nice and shiney.

Yeah, I can't stand going two days without washing my hair, so the prospect of feeling it like that for a month or so is cringe-worthy for me. It's interesting the effect that shampoos (and other chemical cleansers) have had on our bodies, though.

I just use shampoo.

To be brutally honest, I don't know what conditioner does. I wash my hair with shampoo every time I shower so around once every 2-3 days depending on activities that happened.

Usually: Clean body -> Clean face -> Shampoo hair -> rinse hair -> leave shower.
The whole process takes between 10 and 30 minutes depending on how long I stand mindlessly in the shower for.

Does anybody else mindlessly stand there?
Didn't take you for a shower person. I thought you took troll-bloodbaths (seeing as how you are in the spanish Inquisition)

I usually sing when I shower. But I like to take baths more. AND, I take baths WITH MY LAPTOP! So 1 out of 5 times when your talking to me on the inquisition-chat I'm in the bathtub. Bet you didn't see that one coming.

Both. Then I straighten it. Then sometimes wax.

I don't like short hair, I really don't suit it, which means I have medium hair. But medium or longer requires more care, otherwise you just look a mess, and it gets all knotted, matted, maybe even dry and brittle to the point of falling out..

I take care of my hair, and it remains soft and bouncy. S'all good.

And I usually wash it every other day when I have a shower, otherwise it gets greasy and that feels fucking awful. There's nothing worse than the feeling of having your hair plastered to your scalp.
