so, the recommended computer requirements are out, http://uk.pc.ign.com/articles/114/1143072p1.html, and to a man with a 2007 laptop they are horrifying (albeit not that surprising).

now im not that technoliterate, but these seem a tad high, although that is probably to be expected. now i don't know how any others will need to upgrade their pcs, but im assuming this will probably affect their sales.

so escapists, the question; do you have (or are you about to get) a computer which can run this game? assuming you are playing it at all, if not, this post is clearly not for you.

also, as a aside, assuming i did want a pc with the recommended stats, any suggestions anyone?

EDIT* http://uk.pc.ign.com/articles/114/1143072p1.html try again,

failing all else type "Total War: Shogun 2 System Requirements Revealed" into IGN

Yes, I have a PC that's almost two years old and that'll run it with no sweat.

2.5GHz QuadCore
4GB RAM
Rad4850/DX10
etc. etc.

And the irony is that it's not even designed to be a gaming computer!
Those requirements don't look much more than what was needed for Napoleon: Total War, so can't see the problem. With the Creative Assembly games, you do need a desktop to run them. Empire: Total War will be OK on laptops (mate played it on his, don't know the specs though) but half way through the Imperial Campaign, it will seriously lag.

The specs are not very clear and seems very dumbed down. Generalised information makes no absolute.

According to another source [http://www.game-debate.com/games/index.php?g_id=1091&game=Shogun%202:%20Total%20War], it's just an HD 5570/ GT 240 and i5 680 / Athlon II X3 450.

Sadly, it seems to be a guess.

IGN has honestly quoted the information from the official announcement [http://www.totalwar.com/news/4807].

That's not very helpful at all.

Regardless, I think most PC's will be able to handle this just fine.

There's nothing even remotely extraordinary about those specs. It's the specs for most current gen games. My 4 year old computer can run it, no problem.
