Is it just me or can other people not help but responding to a simple post, that can usually be answered as yes, no, maybe, or something to that affect with a long drawn out response. Sure, I'll respond with yes, but then I will follow it up with a diatribe about why it's yes, I see everyone one word/short answering posts, I just cannot help myself. I hope I'm not alone out there. What's everyone's take on this, and is there any cure?

It is encouraged ont he site to make long posts, rather than just; yes, no,
this. I might bulk it out with about a extra sentence or two, but I'll never go overboard.

yes. [/joke]

meh, you're not supposed to just post one word answers, but some things don't really need much more than a short post.
e.g. 'Are you male or female?'
you wouldn't answer with either 'Male' or 'Female', and then go on to explain why you are that gender. that would just be weird. and maybe slightly funny.

I'll only answer in short posts if the question is stupid or uninteresting. Which begs the question of whether I should have responded at all.

I find it rather discouraging to go deep in to a subject, only to have people skip over it entirely and not read a single word.

So now I try to get in, drop a sentence or two, and gtfo.

Don't do it. [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/9.116827] Simply put, that's the best way to stop short replies. Threads which encourage detail help.

no.

Also is there a cure for using numbers instead of letters in a nickname?
I'm rather attached to my name, had it for about 10 years now, so for me, no there is no cure, I'm too far gone. As for xX_Sniperxx1993_Xx yes there is a cure, it's called creativity, but that's for another day.

Yeah, and I'm the guy that would answer, male, and then go into how all of the other sex groups are under represented, hermaphrodites, transexuals, and transvestites, it would get ugly, and before you know it, I'd have a 3 page post that gets lost because I forget to copy right before I post and something goes irrevocably wrong, and then I type the whole post again, nearly word for word, just because I want to make sure I'm not short changing someone whom actually might want to read my post. Actually, thank god my firefox crashed, or you would be seeing a 3 page post on the under representation of those three groups in the a/s/l question, haha.
