Anyway, On topic, No. No, because think about it. How many people will challenge others to duels, the person wont want to, and then its basically just murder cause one person had a level head.

Not necessarily. Alexander Hamilton was killed in a Duel with Aaron Burr because Hamilton showed up to say he wouldnt duel, and Burr just shot Hamilton pretty much cold blood.

you know how people will get a ton of money from peopel by acting poor at pool and then earning the huge wager? yeah... that's what would happen... with professional killers instead. It happened back in the day a ton. Romeo and Juliet comes to mind as a popular fictional piece but there are tons of examples IRL.

I was talking about how modern dueling could work. And yes, the way we lost one of America's greatest financial minds sucked.

I wouldn't mind it being legal. However, I think that it would require a lot of paperwork to decrease the number stupid people dueling each other.

You could have it so that the challenger would have to speak in front of a judge with a witness and have the judge approve the actual challenge. Even from there, all the other person has to do is say no and it would end.

You back down, you'll be laughed at, ie, lose your "honour"; you take it all the way, and you'll either lose your life, or take someone else's.

No it was a fair duel.There was a crowd of spectators too.

No. What good could it possibly do? I'd never enter a duel unless I knew I'd win. And probably not even then - I find no pleasure in killing someone's relative, friend or lover. (Or rather, my thirst for violence is satisfied by playing video games.)

That's exactly what I was thinking. Unless some sort of formal licensing bureau was developed specifically for the obtaining of licenses and permission to duel. But that would be a silly waste of time. If people want to settle something through violence, they'll do it with or without some license or piece of paper signed by both parties. Giving them a legal route to take just gives prospective murderers one more way to try and make their murder seem legit.

Maybe not a duel to the death. Sort of like a fight, but its until the other person gives up. So no continually beating the shit outa ppl once they had lost. Also, no jumping in when the more popular party begins to lose. I hate that shit. And you can't seek revenge on someone when they beat your friend or sibling etc. And no unfair advantage (knives etc).

That already exists, they have "unsanctioned" MMA bouts where anyone can enter... it's not pretty, especially when you get a random fat kid vs a professional fighter:

I don't think duelling shouldn't be legal. Just because someone (in the heat of the moment) agrees to a duel and thinks they're capable, doesn't mean that they should be allowed to fight to the death (legally and sanctioned by the state).

There'd also be problem with the duelling equivalent of card sharks or pool hustlers, real nasty psychos who get their kicks out of killing people, acting like defenceless dicks and provoking people into challenging them to a duel just so they can get away with murder.

Homicide shouldn't be encouraged, it's hard enough stopping people killing each other anyway so I think the last thing any country should do is make it legal and spend resources on sanctioning duels.

Hell no.
Duelling and the Problems that go with having such a tight honor code is Hell for people in that system! Half of the german literature is about the idea that Duelling and Honor suck.
(The other half is about witless women and cool deals with the devil or other exotic way to get into the pants of said women)
