I have a computer, but it sucks currently. I've had to delete most of my games off of there to load the couple games I really like.

My brother and I can buy a pretty good Alienware computer, but we have to spend most of our money.

Do you guys think it's worth it?

no, you can have a really good computer built for much less than an alienware computer costs.

Only if you don't like having money.

There are much cheaper alternatives that are almost as good, and that's without even going into the whole building your own aspect of things.

No. Personally I would reccomend either iBuyPower, or even better (and overall a bit cheaper) build your own like I did. Finished last night and it runs great.

Agreed. Not to mention, that way you get to choose all your exact hardware.

Do a little research into what goes into their computers before you make a decision. If it turns out you can assemble a similar machine for less, then I'd recommend that.

My friendly neighborhood computer geek says the reason that Alienware computers are so expensive is because they have egos the size of Manhattan, but they are top notch computers, nonetheless

How do I get these custom computers you guys are talking about? Do I have to make it myself?

You could go to a manufacturers website and choose the components you want in it and PC games are nearing a graphics plateau so unless you just want a faster running computer then it's not worth spending money on.

They are really good but really overpriced. I know someone with one but he's one of those guys who lives in a really nice house in the suburbs and has one of those Lincoln SUVs.
Really, you buy one of those if you have cash to burn; literally.

If you're understandably second guessing and you don't feel too confident on your PC building skills, you may want to check out newegg. They're frikkin cheap.

RE- Poll: Wow 100% no.

It depends. What do you want to use your PC for? High end gaming? Basic everyday use? Somewhere in between?

And building it yourself is probably the cheapest, but the most personally demanding way to go. I spent a few months fine tuning and deciding the list of my parts before I even ordered them. If you aren't that tech savvy I would recommend iBuyPower.

get a custom one from a smaller website, they can be just as good, and you don't need to spend nearly as much

NO NO NO!!!! you can build your own machine from parts on newegg.com for litterally 1/4th the cost of an alienware. On top of that you will actually know how to fix your own machine when you are done. It's not hard, if you can build with Legos, you can most likely build your own machine.

NO.
They are insanely overpriced, especially if you add and/or upgrade components. I priced a machine from Alienware last year, then built one myself with better specs for $1200 less.

I voted yes because I love the alienware brand mostly for the design.

And the m17X

The world's best gaming laptop, at only £4,600-ish

Expensive, but F*****G AMAZING

If money is no object, then go right ahead, because when you buy Alienware, you're also paying for a brand.

I cannot stress enough, how much money you save by building your own PC, but if you insist on buying a pre-built PC then atleast get it off of Newegg (which still saves you a ton of money).

I couldn't have said it better myself.

If your only problem is you can't install many games, rather than the games play badly, I'd suggest getting a new hard drive. Takes literally 2 minutes to fit and a terabyte one these days is about £70 (~$110).

For a 3k alienware computer, you spend 1k on the computer and 2k on the alienware bit.
